CAFCC: Tornadoes And Enyimba Lost, Narrow Escape for Kano Pillars

Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Champions League, Enyimba FC lost on the road 1-0 to Rahimo FC of Burkina Faso in the first leg preliminary round 1 tie played in Ouagadougou.

The People’s Elephant fell to a 30th minute strike from Rahimo’s Zonon Michu, but couldn’t get the much needed away goal which now put them on the brink of elimination.

The People’s Elephants must now win the second leg with a two goal margin to progress to the next round.

Elsewhere, Gambo Mohammed was to the rescue as Kano Pillars defeated visiting Asante Kotoko 3-2 in Kano.

The Ghanaians were destined to return to Accra with a well deserved 2-2 away draw in the round one preliminary CAF Champions League first leg tie at the Sani Abacha Stadium, but the experienced goal poacher scored late to give Pillars a victory.

They now have to avoid defeat in the reverse fixture in Ghana to make it to the next round.

It wasn’t the same result for Niger Tornadoes who are representing Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup, they fell to Santoba Conakry 2-1 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

The Nigerian teams can all go through to the main draw if they do well in the reverse fixtures.
