THREE NIGERIAN PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE THIS WEEKEND

There is a full range of talent from Nigeria in the English Premier League this season and we picked three players for you to look out for ahead of the opening matchday.

The EPL has become one of the most attractive leagues in Europe to play in over the past decade, so the level of football being played is arguably at the best it has ever been.

This weekend marks the return of the highly anticipated English top flight, and you can take matters into your own hands at Bet9ja where you can find over 200 markets per game.

Calvin Bassey, Fulham

Calvin Bassey has recently signed for Fulham from Ajax, and he is a player who is highly rated after his successful time in both the Eredivisie and in Scotland with Rangers.

The Nigerian defender spent just one season with Ajax – he featured 39 times in all competitions, including 6 Champions League games so he is expected to come in and do well at Craven Cottage.

Fulham had a successful first season back in the Premier League last year when they finished 10th, so Bassey could be a player that helps them push on to the next level.

Alex Iwobi, Everton

Alex Iwobi has really progressed into one of Everton’s most important players over the last 18 months, he featured 38 times in the Premier League last season.

Despite Everton scrapping safety last term after they finished just two points above the drop zone, Iwobi was one of their stand out players in his newly found role in the centre of midfield.

If the Toffees did get relegated to the Championship, Iwobi would certainly be one of the players who would be on the radar of those in the top flight after his impressive displays, so is going to be vital for them in the upcoming season.

Taiwo Awoniyi, Nottingham Forest

Taiwo Awoniyi had a successful first term in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest last season, he scored 10 goals in 27 top flight games.

With the attacking options that Forest have, Awoniyi had to wait patiently at times on the bench, but he will be hoping that his displays last term will have been enough to cement his place in the starting XI in the new campaign.

It was looking like Forest were going to be in trouble last season but in the end managed to secure survival by four points, thanks to some vital goals in the final games from Awoniyi.

Who do you think will be the outstanding Nigerian this season in the EPL? Let us know here!
