It has been a tough first half of the season for Manchester United on all accounts.
The Red Devils were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, after their defeat against Bayern Munich at home meant that they finished bottom of the group and Galatasaray took third spot which put the Turkish side in the Europa League.
Despite the poor start to the season, United sit sixth in the English Premier League, so if they were to get the correct personnel in the door in January then they could still save their season and have a positive campaign.
We picked out five players Man United could sign in January in order to turn their season around:
Jean- Clair Todibo, OGC Nice
Manchester United are very much in the market for central defender, due to the lack of stability shown this season, and Todibo has been heavily linked to the club after to his impressive displays this season for Nice, whilst being just 23-years-old , so he could be a great long-term option.
Ronald Araujo, Barcelona
Araujo is another defender on the United shortlist this January, and although his contract with Barcelona is not set to expire until 2026, this has not put off the Manchester outfit as reports are suggesting that they are willing to double his weekly wage in order to force the move.
Kalvin Phillips, Manchester City
Phillips was a man linked with a move to United before he signed for arch rivals Manchester City and with the move to City being a complete failure, the English midfielder might be keen to leave the club in order to get his career back on track and push a place at Euro 2024 for England.
Donyell Malen, Borussia Dortmund
Reports are suggesting that United have been offered the chance to sign Malen in January for a fee in the region of £26m, and with just five sides scoring less goals than them in the Premier League this term, it is evident that United are in need of some more attacking options, so the Dortmund man could be a great option.
Ivan Toney, Brentford
Ivan Toney has been suspended from football during the first-half of the season, but he is set to return in January and Manchester United have been heavily linked to him, after his 20 goals in 33 appearances in the league last term is something that would have certainly caught the eye of Erik ten Hag.
