We are just over halfway through the league campaigns, with plenty to be decided at both ends of the table in the biggest five leagues in Europe.
It has been an excellent 2023/24 campaign so far in the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga so it will be interesting to see how things pan out come the end of the season.
We take a deeper look at the top five leagues in terms of who are the favourites, overachievers, strugglers and star players.

EPL
Favourites – Manchester City, 1.61 (Bet Here)
Manchester City are the current favourites to lift the title come May after finding impressive form and if they win their game in hand, they will move to top of the table.
Overachievers – Aston Villa
Villa currently sit fourth in the league standings and are well within a chance of qualifying for UEFA Champions League football next season, a great rise after they found themselves finish in the bottom half of the table just two seasons ago.
Strugglers – Chelsea
Despite spending an extreme amount of money, Chelsea are in the bottom half of the table and could see their manager Mauricio Pochettino get the boot imminently.
Star Player – Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah has been vital for Liverpool this term as they sit top of the tree, chipping in with an impressive 22 goal contributions in 20 Premier League matches.
La Liga
Favourites – Real Madrid, 1.14 (Bet Here)
Real Madrid are heavy favourites to win La Liga, currently top by two points and are looking extremely strong as we head deep into the campaign.
Overachievers – Girona
Girona have spend large periods of the campaign at the top of La Liga, and although they have recently slipped down to second, they are still massively overachieving after they finished 10th last term.
Strugglers – Sevilla
Sevilla have seen a massive drop off in recent times, it was just two seasons ago they were in the top four but now they sit down in 15th and are flirting with relegation.
Star Player – Jude Bellingham
Bellingham has taken La Liga by a storm this term, he is the joint top goal scorer in the division from midfield and has virtually been at the heart of everything positive Madrid do.
Serie A
Favourites – Inter Milan, 1.10 (Bet Here)
Inter are top of Serie A by four points and they have a game in hand, so it is no surprise that they are heavy favourites to win the title.
Overachievers – Frosinone
Frosinone were promoted to Serie A after they won Serie B last season, and they have impressed so far as they sit 14th in the league standings.
Strugglers – Empoli
Empoli finished the 2022/23 season 12 points off the drop zone, but the have been poor this time around meaning that they sit second from bottom after 23 games played.
Star Player – Lautaro Martinez
Martinez is currently the league’s top scorer with 19 goals in 20 appearances which has lead his side to great success, as they are in pole position to win the league this season.
Ligue 1
Favourites – PSG, 1.02 (Bet Here)
PSG are top of Ligue 1 by a staggering eight points and it would take an awful lot to change if they were not to lift the title at the end of the term.
Overachievers – Brest
Brest are currently in the Ligue 1 standings, which is a massive improvement from last term after they finished the campaign in 14th place.
Strugglers – Lyon
Lyon have had a season way below their usual standards as they have won just five out of their opening 20 league games, which means that they find themselves one place above the drop zone.
Star Player – Kylian Mbappe
There is no real surprise who the star player in Ligue 1 has been this year, Mbappe has found the back of the net 20 times already in the league and has been one of the best players in the world so far this season.
Bundesliga
Favourites – Bayern Munich, 1.57 (Bet Here)
Despite sitting second in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich are still tipped to win the league come the end of the season, winning the last 11.
Overachievers – Bayern Leverkusen
Leverkusen are top and are in with a great chance of winning the league, which is a massive improvement from last season when they finished sixth.
Strugglers – Mainz
Mainz ended last term in ninth place in the league, but this time around they have struggled, sitting second bottom and have won just once out of 19 league games so far.
Star Player – Harry Kane
Kane has been the star player in the Bundesliga this season, scoring a staggering 24 goals in 20 league games, and again has been one of the best players in the whole of Europe.
