Liverpool currently sit top of the English Premier League by two points after 25 games played.
The last time the Reds won the league was in 2018/19, and City have won it every year since then, so Liverpool will be keen to make sure that their Premier League counterparts do not make it four in a row.
With Liverpool looking strong and Man City dropping points against Chelsea, we picked out three reasons why they should now be favourites to win the Premier League come May.
Manchester City dropping points
The title race consists of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool but the reigning champions have proven that they can be capable of dropping points and they did so at the weekend against a weak Chelsea side.
City had won their last 11 games before the weekend, so the draw at home against Chelsea will certainly give Liverpool hope that they are capable of dropping points, especially at home.
Front three finding form
Liverpool’s front three of Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez have all picked up some good form in recent times, between them they chipped in with four goal contributions against Brentford, despite Jota and Nunez playing a half or less.
In the league, Jota has 12 goal contributions in 19 games, Nunez has 16 goal contributions in 24 games and Salah has 24 goal contributions in 21 games. If they continue this type of form, then they will certainly be deemed as favourites to win the league.
Fortress at Anfield
Liverpool’s home form has been almost perfect this season, they have not lost in the league at Anfield, while drawing just twice out of 12 games so this form will certainly give them confidence heading into the latter stages of the season.
The atmosphere at Anfield is electric, and with this being Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, the atmosphere has ramped up another notch. This will definitely give the side a boost in hope that they can continue the superb home form and give them a great chance of winning the title.
