Victor Ikpeba’s UEFA Champions League Preview and Predictions

Tonight marks one of the most highly anticipated UEFA Champions matchdays in recent history, with Arsenal taking on European foes Bayern Munich and Manchester City making the trip to Madrid to face La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

It is not the first time that either side has faced each other in Europe’s premier competition over the last decade – Arsenal have faced off with Bayern plenty of times in the last decade, with largely disappointing results, with Manchester City and Real Madrid drawing each other in the knockout stages in three of the last four seasons.

We spoke to Bet9ja Ambassador Victor Ikpeba, who gave us his thoughts and predictions on what promises to be a riveting evening of football.

Bayern Munich might be in a bad spot but they are still Bayern Munich!

It’s no secret that Bayern Munich are having their worst season in a long time – it looks like this will be their first season without winning the Bundesliga since 2012, and they’ve had problems throughout the club which has added to the turbulence.

However, they still have the players in their side to cause problems for anyone, including Arsenal, on their day. The likes of Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala are world class players and have the ability to tear any defence to shreds on their day.

I think Bayern will score in this fixture, but the home advantage for Arsenal will still be important. I see a 2-1 win for The Gunners.

Manchester City look like they’re here to take Real Madrid’s position as European giants

City are the defending champions and look like a serious force in Europe nowadays. They have different options for every scenario and a genius in charge in Pep Guardiola. Last season they blew Real Madrid away in the second leg of their semi-final fixture, and I expect this tie to go in a similar fashion.

I can see a 3-1 victory for Manchester City at the Bernabeu. They have some of the greatest players in the world on their team, and also some great role-players like Jack Grealish who compliments the team fantastically.

Real Madrid are obviously dangerous and have plenty of top players, but I see City being too much here.
