The biggest game of the European football calendar is right around the corner as Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid are set to clash at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night in the long-awaited UEFA Champions League Final.
Both the other UEFA finals have ended with the underdogs taking home the trophy as Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League and Olympiacos handed Fiorentina their second Europa Conference League final defeat in as many seasons.
Borussia Dortmund will certainly be hoping this competition follows the same trend as they take on the competition’s most successful side in 14-time winners Real Madrid.
Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid

Wembley Stadium
Borussia Dortmund would have been an unlikely contender for the Champions League Final at the beginning of the campaign, and their fall from second in the Bundesliga to fifth this season suggests they have not quite been at their best.
That has not been the case in Europe though as they have impressed time and time again to make it to their first Champions League Final since 2013, when they lost 3-2 to Bayern Munich, coincidentally also taking place at Wembley Stadium.
Not many people had much hope of the Black and Yellow even making it out of their group stage when they were drawn alongside PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle United, but Dortmund excelled as they lost just one game and progressed in first place.
They went on to beat PSV Eindhoven 3-1 on aggregate in the round of 16, come from 2-1 behind in the first leg to win 5-4 on aggregate after a 4-2 second-leg victory against Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals and then beat PSG 2-0 over the two legs in the semi-finals.
The BVB come into this one with just two defeats in their last nine outings and their phenomenal performance over 180 minutes against the French champions in the semifinal will give them plenty of confidence for the final.
Real Madrid have once again made it to a Champions League Final as they search for a record-extending 15th triumph, making it eight more than the next closest in AC Milan with seven.
Los Blancos’ dominance in this competition was halted for over 30 years between their 1966 and eventual 1998 victory, which they followed up with another two titles in 2000 and 2002.
They went on another 12-year wait for the milestone 10th trophy in 2014 and followed that with one of the greatest football achievements we have ever seen as they won three Champions Leagues in a row from 2016-2018 before adding another in 2022.
Real Madrid have not lost a Champions League Final since a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in 1981 and Carlo Ancelotti’s side will certainly be in good spirits coming into this final as they are currently enjoying a run of 25 games without defeat across all competitions.
Bet9ja Tips
Borussia Dortmund have done a fantastic job to reach their first Champions League Final in 11 years in a season that has been largely underwhelming in domestic competition, but they will be coming into this one as extreme underdogs.
Real Madrid’s expertise in winning this competition as well as the overwhelming quality they have littered throughout their squad will leave them as favourites to win. Alongside their last defeat in all competitions coming in January, while also going unbeaten in a Champions League run that has seen them match up with Manchester City and Bayern Munich, we believe Los Blancos will win this one. It could take just one goal to separate the two and a Real Madrid win combined with under 1.5 goals is priced up at 7.50 with Bet9ja.
Joselu has been a brilliant source of goals for Real Madrid this season, scoring 18 times across all competitions, and the striker scored two vital goals in the 88th and 91st minute to turn a 1-0 lead for Bayern Munich into a victory for Real Madrid to progress into the final. We believe the Spaniard will show his quality in front of goal once again at Wembley, and you can get odds of Joselu to score anytime of 2.50 with Bet9ja.
Bet9ja Odds (at time of writing, 90 minutes only): Borussia Dortmund win: 5.15, Real Madrid win: 1.64
