Group D and half of Group E will play their second group matches of this year’s European Championships on Friday, giving some of those teams the opportunity to confirm their place in the knockout rounds while for others it will give them a chance to get their first points on the board.

Slovakia vs Ukraine
Ukraine may have fallen to a 3-0 defeat in their opening game against Romania, but their performance had plenty of positives that they can work on going into the next game against a Slovakia side who just defeated Belgium.
Ukraine’s attacking quality was clear to see throughout the game but they struggled to produce the right final pass, leading to almost all of their attacks breaking down before a meaningful chance could occur. Poland vs Austria
Austria’s opening game saw them come up against one of the favourites to go on and win the entire competition in France, leaving many giving them no chance of a result. While Ralf Rangnick’s side did fall to defeat, their performance was extremely positive and many people have now predicted them to go far in this tournament.
Poland, on the other hand, looked weak in the defensive areas with the Netherlands taking 21 shots in the 90 minutes. Their attack was much better with them having 12 shots and creating 1.32xG, but they may struggle to replicate this against an Austria side that limited France to very few big chances.
We do expect that this game may be tighter than many people may expect, but we believe that Austria will eventually take the three points.

Netherlands vs France
France captain and potentially the best player in the world Kylian Mbappe broke his nose after colliding with a defender’s shoulder in the opening game of the Euros, leaving the forward unlikely to feature in the coming game against the Netherlands.
Olivier Giroud was the man who replaced him in the opener and the striker is expected to start upfront from the beginning in the next game. The veteran had another brilliant season for AC Milan with 17 goals and nine assists in 48 matches, and France’s all-time top scorer came close to scoring in the dying minutes of the opening game but a rogue bounce took the ball away from his boot.
Without Mbappe’s attacking prowess France will be looking to Giroud to finish the chances in this one, and we believe their all-time top scorer will add another to his tally in this game.
