The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League is set to begin on Tuesday, marking the debut of the newly revamped league phase that replaces the traditional group stage that we have come to know and love.
The league phase has been designed to deliver more exciting and dramatic match-ups in the early stages of the competition, and the format’s impact will be felt right from the opening night with a standout clash between Milan and Liverpool taking centre stage.
Alongside a number of other potentially interesting clashes between some of Europe’s top teams, we are going to look at a selection of these fixtures and pick out our top tips and booking code: (odds available at time of writing)
Juventus vs PSV
Juventus have had a strong opening to the 2024/25 Serie A season, kicking off the campaign with back-to-back 3-0 victories before recording successive 0-0 draws in their following two fixtures, leaving them still yet to concede after four games.
PSV have similarly had a strong start, bouncing back from a penalty defeat in the Johan Cruijff Schaal to win all of their first five Eredivisie matches with an aggregate score of 20-3.
While PSV will be confident after their winning start, Juventus have shown their defensive solidity and with them also boasting the home advantage, we expect the Italian giants to win this one.

Bayern Munich vs Dinamo Zagreb
After his phenomenal first campaign at Bayern Munich where he scored an outrageous 44 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, Harry Kane has picked up where he left off in the opening phase of the 2024/25 season.
Four matches into the new season and Kane is already sat on five goals, four in the Bundesliga and one in the DFB Pokal, marking an immense start to the campaign.
Alongside his fantastic goalscoring form, Bayern Munich look back to their best after a disappointing third-placed finish last year, and the German side should be dominant against a weaker opposition here. With this, we expect Kane to get plenty of chances and to get his name on the scoresheet once again.

Milan vs Liverpool
Milan have endured a difficult first four matches to their Serie A season, failing to win any of their first three matches with two draws and one loss before eventually beating Venezia 4-0 in their most recent outing.
Liverpool, on the other hand, had the perfect start after three matches as they won all three with an aggregate score of 7-0, but they fell to a disappointing defeat to Nottingham Forest in their most recent game.
Despite that recent defeat, Arne Slot’s men will be desperate to return to winning ways and kickstart their European campaign with all three points, and we expect Liverpool to do exactly that with a narrow win here.

Real Madrid vs Stuttgart
Kylian Mbappe finally made his long-awaited move to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer window, and the Frenchman has been impressive in his first matches in the famous white of Los Blancos.
After six appearances across all competitions, Mbappe has already netted four goals, three in the league and one in his debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta.
That form will give Mbappe plenty of confidence heading into their game against Stuttgart, and with Real Madrid likely to dominate the match, we expect the Frenchman to score on Tuesday.
