Round three of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League continues on Wednesday with another nine thrilling encounters set to unfold, wrapping up the third round of league phase fixtures. Europe’s elite clubs will continue to battle for crucial points as they aim to secure their places in the knockout stages.
In this article, we will be taking a closer look at a selection of the matches taking place on Wednesday and picking out our top tips:
Brest vs Bayer Leverkusen
After enjoying a brilliant first campaign for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 21 times in 34 matches across all competitions, Victor Boniface has enjoyed a superb start to his second year in Germany.
The striker has netted seven times in 10 appearances across all competitions, including goals in all of his last three appearances for the club.
With this, as well as Brest looking defensively frail having conceded 14 times in eight Ligue 1 games, we believe the striker will have over 3.5 shots tonight

Atletico Madrid vs Lille
Atletico Madrid have made a mixed start to the 2024-25 Champions League season, sitting 23rd in the table with three points having won one and lost one of their opening two games.
They enjoyed a superb 2-1 win over Leipzig in the first game of the tournament before falling to a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Benfica in the last game, a hugely surprising result given Diego Simeone’s side’s usual defensive strengths.
With Atletico Madrid desperate to bounce back from such a poor result, and them having the home advantage, we believe they will win here.

Barcelona vs Bayern Munich
In undoubtedly the standout fixture of the day, Barcelona will host Bayern Munich in a clash of two of Europe’s super teams.
The two sides are split only on goal difference in the Champions League table, with Barcelona 16th on three points and Bayern Munich in 15 with a slightly better goal difference.
These two sides have both enjoyed very strong starts to the season, but Bayern Munich have faced slight difficulties recently, drawing two, losing one and winning one of their last four fixtures, while Barcelona have lost one and won five of their last six.
With this, as well as Barcelona boasting the home advantage, we believe they will secure a narrow victory here.

Leipzig vs Liverpool
Liverpool’s talisman Mohamed Salah has had yet another extraordinary start to a season for the Reds, scoring seven and assisting six in his first 11 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25.
He has scored in five of his last six appearances for both club and country, including a goal against Bologna in Liverpool’s second outing of the Champions League league phase campaign.
Leipzig have been incredibly defensively strong this season, conceding just eight goals in 10 matches across all competitions, including just two in seven Bundesliga games, but we believe that Salah will cause enough problems to get himself on the scoresheet once again.
