Victor Osimhen has had an impressive start to life at Galatasaray after making a season-long loan switch from Napoli in the summer.
His 12 goals in 15 games have meant that top clubs around Europe have been linked with a move for him in this transfer window.
The striker’s loan contains a break clause for the January window. With three weeks remaining until the transfer deadline for Europe’s top leagues, it means the Galatasaray forward could have a new club before the end of the month.
Here’s where Osimhen’s future could lie once the window slams shut.
Makeweight for Marcus Rashford at Manchester United
Man Utd are actively trying to sell Rashford this month, after the academy graduate announced on his own social media that he is ready for a new challenge elsewhere before the window closes.
Napoli could be a destination for Rashford, as according to The Sun, Man Utd could be able to sign Osimhen from the Serie A side in return for the England international.
The interest in the potential swap is reportedly being pushed by Napoli head coach Antonio Conte, who could reunite him with former Man Utd teammates Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku.
With doubts about Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, Man Utd are in the market for a quality striker. Hojlund has operated at around one goal in three since joining the Red Devils (23 goals in 66 appearances), while Zirkzee’s career at Old Trafford has failed to take off since making a summer switch. Osimhen could be the answer for the Red Devils.
Osimhen could finally make his move to Chelsea
Man Utd are not the only Premier League club that have been linked to signing Osimhen, as Chelsea could also be in the race. The Blues launched a last-ditch attempt to sign Osimhen on a season-long loan and even proposed an obligation to buy him at the end of the season in the last transfer window.
However, a deal failed to materialise with negotiations running out of time before the end of the deadline. Chelsea are still yet to sign a striker since failing to acquire Osimhen in the back end of last summer, and it is a deal they could look to revisit in this window.
A move has been emphasised after a recent dip in form, with the Blues on a winless streak of four straight games. Enzo Maresca hinted at the end of the summer transfer window that the club could revisit their interest in the Nigerian forward this January. If the club follows through with their previous transfer plans, then Osimhen could be wearing blue for the second half of the season.
Remain in Turkey for the rest of the season
Osimhen has settled comfortably at Galatarasay since his summer switch from Napoli, with the forward ranking third in the Turkish Super Lig for most goals scored (12). Despite links to Premier League clubs, he could remain where he is at least until the end of the season. Napoli have no reason to recall the forward from his current loan if they can’t agree to a deal with another club.
Not only were the Italian side happy to let him go in the summer, but if they want to activate his recall clause, they are required to pay £8.2m.
Galatasaray seemed to be convinced that Osimhen will stay at the club, as according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Turkish side are currently ‘100%’ convinced that he will not leave the club this winter.
