The stage is set for an all-English spectacle tonight as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur face off in Bilbao in the Europa League final, with both desperate to salvage pride after disappointing domestic campaigns.
For Tottenham Hotspur, they are aiming to end a 17-year wait for a major trophy and 41 years since last lifting a European trophy in 1984.
Meanwhile, for Manchester United, it is an opportunity to claim a third trophy in three seasons, topping off a campaign that will see them record their worst-ever English Premier League finish with a European trophy.
New tournament. Same goal ?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United
Wednesday 21 May, 20:00
San Mames Stadium
Tottenham have had a miserable Premier League campaign, currently heading into the final day of the 38-match season sat 17th in the table with just 38 points, from 11 wins, five draws and 21 defeats.
While there is no threat of relegation, with Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton already relegated, that level of performance is simply unacceptable for a club the size of Spurs.
Despite their domestic difficulties, a promising run in the Europa League has given Ange Postecoglou the chance to end the campaign on a high, looking to end a 17-year wait for a major trophy and a 41-year wait since last lifting a European trophy in 1984.
After finishing fourth in the league phase, Spurs have eliminated AZ Alkmaar (4-2), Eintracht Frankfurt (2-1) and Bodoe/Glimt (5-1) on their way to the final, where they will now face a familiar foe in Manchester United.
Spurs are in poor form heading into the clash, though, with Postecoglou’s men suffering consecutive 2-0 defeats to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in the build up to Wednesday’s final.
The Red Devils have similarly struggled in the Premier League this season, already confirmed to record their worst-ever finish and lowest points total since the inception of the league in 1992.
Man United are 16th in the standings with 39 points from 37 fixtures, just one point above Spurs, with 10 wins, nine draws and 18 defeats, as well as a shocking -12 goal difference, having scored 42 times and conceded 54.
Similarly to Spurs, they have flourished in this competition in spite of their troubles in domestic competitions, finishing third in the league phase table before beating Real Sociedad (5-2), Lyon (7-6) and Athletic Club (7-1).
Their quarter-final tie was particularly special, as the Red Devils trailed 4-2 on the night and 6-4 on aggregate with just 10 minutes of extra-time remaining. However, Man United continued their history of sensational late comebacks, with Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire all scoring in the last six minutes – including becoming the first team in Europa League history to score two goals in the 120th minute – to secure their victory and progression into the semi-finals.
Now aiming to cap off a miserable campaign with their second Europa League trophy and seventh European trophy, the Red Devils will clash with a Tottenham side that they have failed to defeat since October 2022, including three defeats in their last three meetings.

Team News
Tottenham are expecting to be without Dane Scarlett, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall due to injury issues, while Mikey Moore is a doubt after being forced off in their recent defeat to Aston Villa.
Spurs will be able to name a fully-fit backline of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie, ahead of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, but those five have had limited minutes playing together this season.
In attack, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and Heung-min Son should all start, while Wilson Odobert may retain his place behind the striker in Maddison and Kulusevski’s absence.
As for Manchester United, Diogo Dalot, Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt are all battling to return to health before the cup final, while Lisandro Martinez is definitely ruled out with a cruciate ligament injury.
Bruno Fernandes is the competition’s joint-top scorer this season with seven goals in 13 games, and the attacking midfielder will be aiming to claim the award outright with a goal and help his side to the Europa League in this one.
A similar side to the one that started against Chelsea in the Premier League is expected, with Mason Mount, Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in the midfield roles, while Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu start from wide positions.
Tottenham Hotspur Predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Van de Ven, Romero, Udogie; Bentancur, Bissouma; Johnson, Odobert, Son; Solanke
Manchester United Predicted XI: Onana; Yoro, Maguire, Shaw; Mazraoui, Fernandes, Casemiro, Dorgu; Diallo, Mount; Hojlund
Bet9ja Tips
While Tottenham have dominated against Manchester United in recent meetings, including victories in all of their last three meetings, the Red Devils have a much greater history of winning trophies, and we believe that experience will help them to a crucial victory on Wednesday. However, don’t be surprised if this extremely tight and cagey affair is to be decided in extra-time.
Fernandes, as aforementioned, is looking to lead the side to European glory as club captain, while a single goal would also ensure the golden boot, and we expect the Portuguese midfielder to continue his recent form with a goal in this one. You can get odds of Fernandes to score anytime of 3.50 with Bet9ja.
