Matchday three of the English Premier League season is fast approaching, with another weekend packed full of high-stakes drama and intriguing storylines set to unfold.
While some teams are looking to build on strong starts to the new campaign, others will be desperate to get points on the board and steady their seasons at this early stage of the term, leaving plenty of room for drama and entertainment.
Manchester United vs Burnley
On the back of a disastrous 2024/25 campaign, Manchester United simply had to show signs of improvement at the beginning of this season, and hopes were high after a promising performance in a narrow 1-0 loss to Arsenal on the opening day.
However, the Red Devils have since failed to impress in a 1-1 draw with Fulham and an unacceptable penalty defeat to Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup second round, leaving Ruben Amorim’s job at the club already under immense pressure.
Man Utd simply must respond following the midweek loss when they host newly-promoted Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday, where the Red Devils have won three and drawn one of the last four meetings.
While Burnley did impress in the win against Sunderland and may fancy their chances against the struggling Man Utd, the hosts are undeniably the superior side in terms of quality and they should be extremely motivated to secure a win after the disappointing start to the campaign.
With that in mind, we expect Amorim’s side to respond well to the criticism and secure a commanding win over the Clarets on Saturday.

Tottenham vs Bournemouth
Tottenham have made a terrific start under new manager Thomas Frank, with Spurs beating Burnley 3-0 on the opening day before defeating Manchester City 2-0 last weekend, and Brennan Johnson has netted on both occasions.
The winger looks set to thrive in Frank’s system as Johnson is at his best when making darting runs to the back post, and this is an attribute that fits superbly to the manager’s wishes to get down the lines and cross into the box.
This could be the perfect tactic to also exploit Bournemouth’s system, as the Cherries like their full-backs to push forward, meaning Spurs could exploit the space down the wings when in transition.
With Richarlison, Mohammed Kudus, Pedro Porro and others all showing their quality in getting down the lines and producing crosses into the box, we believe Johnson’s scoring run will continue against Bournemouth.

Brighton vs Manchester City
Brighton and Manchester City have played out some extremely entertaining games in recent years, especially when they meet at the Amex Stadium, where the results have been divided between the two teams.
Brighton have won two, Man City have won two and there has been one draw in the last five meetings at the AMEX Stadium, and both teams have scored in four of those five encounters.
Given the defensive vulnerability already on show from both of these teams at the beginning of the season, we expect this record of both teams scoring to continue on Sunday afternoon, as we are predicting both Brighton and Manchester City to get on the scoresheet.

Liverpool vs Arsenal
Liverpool and Arsenal are set to meet in an early showdown between two teams expected to fight for the title this season, leaving both sides extremely motivated to lay down a marker and secure all three points over their title rivals.
Both teams have perfect winning records after two matchdays of the campaign, though neither have been fully convincing with their performances.
Liverpool have looked extremely vulnerable when defending against counter attacks, highlighted by conceding two goals in each of their last two games, though their attacking quality is undeniable.

Meanwhile, Arsenal struggled on the opening day against Manchester United, with a set-piece goal being the only difference between the two sides, while they were underwhelming in the first 30 minutes against Leeds, though the newly-promoted side eventually collapsed and Arsenal were able to flex their muscles and secure a comfortable 5-0 win.
Now set for a meeting at Anfield, both teams will be aiming to exploit the others vulnerability, leaving room for this to be an early contender for the game of the season.
However, Liverpool have not lost to Arsenal at Anfield in the English Premier League since the 2012/13 season, while the Reds are unbeaten at their home ground in all of their last six competitive games. Arsenal are yet to concede this season in the EPL, making this one hard to call and a draw can be expected in this early season title clash.
