Matchday five of the English Premier League season kicks off this weekend, brining another round of thrilling action as all 20 teams return to the pitch. With sides aiming to build or maintain early-season momentum, fans can expect plenty of fierce battles across the 10 fixtures.
Liverpool vs Everton
Liverpool may have recorded a flawless start to the 2025/26 campaign, recording five wins from five matches across all competitions, but the Reds have left it late in all of their fixtures thus far.
Arne Slot’s side have scored the winning goal in the final 10 minutes of each of their five matches, including three games with injury-time winners, while they have netted in injury-time in four of their five outings.
With another difficult match-up against Everton expected, especially as the Toffees come into the clash in strong form, having won three and drawn one of their last four, we expect this game to be a close encounter but with Liverpool finding the win yet again.

Manchester United vs Chelsea
After failing to score an open-play goal in the Premier League since January 2025, Cole Palmer finally ended that worrying run with a sublime finish to score Chelsea’s first in their eventual 2-2 draw with Brentford last time out.
Palmer’s Premier League goal appears to coincide with a goalscoring return for the attacker, as the English international has now netted in four of his last six competitive matches, compared to just one goal in the previous 27 games.
Given Palmer’s strong scoring form heading into this one against a Manchester United team that the Chelsea man has scored four times in four appearances against, as well as the Red Devils’ seemingly vulnerable defence in the early parts of this season, we expect Palmer to get on the scoresheet once again here.

Bournemouth vs Newcastle United
Antoine Semenyo had somewhat of a breakout season for Bournemouth last season, scoring 13 goals and assisting six in 42 appearances across all competitions, gaining him plenty of reported interest during the summer transfer window.
However, Semenyo opted to sign a new contract at the Vitality Stadium, and this decision has certainly paid off for both player and club in the early stages of the new campaign, as the forward has already scored three and assisted two in five games.
While Newcastle are a challenging side to face, Bournemouth have enjoyed this fixture in recent times, with two wins and three draws in their last five clashes, and Semenyo’s pace, power and impressive dribbling ability means he has the ability to cause plenty of problems for the Magpies defence.

Arsenal vs Manchester City
Arsenal’s reputation may suggest that they struggle in the biggest matches, but the Gunners have actually thrived in these high-profile clashes in recent times, most notably recording a 22-game unbeaten streak against the Premier League’s traditional ‘big six’ between April 2023 and August 2025.
The Gunners picked up 13 wins and nine draws during that run, eventually suffering a defeat to Liverpool at the end of last month, and that includes two wins and three draws against Manchester City.
Arsenal actually won both clashes with Man City at the Emirates Stadium during that period, including a sensational 5-1 victory in February 2025, and the Gunners will be hoping to make it three consecutive home wins on Sunday.
While Man City will be buoyed by their recent 3-0 win over Manchester United, Arsenal are a much tougher opposition than their Manchester rivals, and given the Gunners’ remarkable record against the big six and strong home results in this fixture, we expect Arsenal to win this one.
