Now nine games into the 2025/26 English Premier League season, the picture at the bottom end of the table is beginning to take shape. The early chaos of the campaign has started to settle just enough to reveal which clubs are struggling to find their footing, and who may be bracing themselves for a long, nervy season ahead.
Leaky defences, blunt attacks and managerial changes already beginning to take place, the alarm bells are clearly beginning to ring for several sides.
As the season gathers momentum, the fight to avoid the drop looks set to be as fierce and unpredictable as ever, especially as the newly-promoted sides appear to be bucking the recent trend of all three newcomers suffering immediate relegation, with the trio all competing valiantly at the beginning of this term.
Today, we take a look at who are now the favourites to suffer relegation this season.
Wolverhampton Wanderers to be relegated – 1.25 – Bet Here
Wolverhampton Wanderers have endured a disastrous start to the 2025/26 season, remaining the only team yet to win a match in the English Premier League, recording just two draws and suffering seven defeats from their first nine fixtures.
The Old Gold, as a result, are rooted to the bottom of the league with just two points, and with performances failing to impress, as well as fan frustrations beginning to boil over – highlighted by the confrontation with the players after the recent defeat to Burnley – and it is little surprise that Wolves are the favourites to suffer relegation this term.
Burnley to be relegated – 1.50 – Bet Here
Despite rising to 16th in the standings after securing a dramatic three points against Wolves at the weekend, scoring a 95th minute winner, the Clarets are still among the favourites to suffer relegation this term.
Burnley have impressed at times this season, particularly in narrow defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool, but a lack of quality in the final third has often cost them in matches, while their defence has been far more vulnerable compared to last season.
Burnley have conceded 17 times in the English Premier League, already one more than the 16 they conceded in the entirety of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, and that could spell for a challenging season going forward given that is their main strength.
West Ham United to be relegated – 1.61 – Bet Here
West Ham United have been potentially the most underwhelming team in the opening stages of the 2025/26 season, with the Hammers placed 19th in the standings having picked up just four points from their first nine games.
West Ham’s only win has come against fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest, while new manager Nuno Espirito Santo has yet to record a victory during his time in charge, managing one draw and three straight defeats.
The Hammers appear a step below every other team in the league physically, with a lack of pace and running power in the midfield allowing opposition sides to take control of the midfield, while their defensive frailties have also been consistently taken advantage of.
If there is not a rapid improvement in the coming weeks of the season, then the Hammers are in serious danger of being relegated to the Championship this term.

Nottingham Forest to be relegated – 3.25 – Bet Here
Nottingham Forest have also severely underwhelmed at the beginning of this season, while the Tricky Trees have undoubtedly endured the most turbulent start to the campaign of any team in the top division.
Santo, who led the side to a fantastic seventh-placed finish last year, was sacked after just three matches, but his replacement, Ange Postecoglou, failed to turn their fortunes around, quickly becoming the fast permanent manager to be sacked in EPL history as Postecoglou was dismissed after just eight games in charge and 39 days at the helm.
Sean Dyche has now been appointed in an attempt to lead Nottingham Forest away from the relegation zone, with the Tricky Trees currently placed 18th in the standings with just five points from nine games, and this appointment is one of the main reasons as to why Nottingham Forest are not within the top three favourites to suffer relegation.
Leeds United to be relegated – 3.75 – Bet Here
Leeds United are the fifth favourites to be relegated from the English Premier League this season, with the Whites managing to climb out of the top three favourites to suffer relegation after an encouraging start to the term.
Daniel Farke’s men have claimed three wins, two draws and lost four matches from their first nine league outings, leaving them 15th in the standings with 11 points, meaning they are six points clear of the drop zone.
The main problem for Leeds this season has been their struggles in front of goal, scoring just nine matches in the English Premier League this term, and they must improve their goalscoring exploits if they are to secure their safety in the top-flight this season.
Other Contenders
Fulham, Sunderland and Brentford are the next favourites to suffer the drop this term, but the trio are all far less likely than the five on this list.
That is highlighted by Fulham’s odds of 6.00, Sunderland’s of 8.00 and Brentford’s of 8.00, and these three sides would have to suffer from a significant capitulation if they are to be relegated this season.
