The UEFA Champions League is back for round five of the league phase, and we are as excited as ever.

This season’s edition has been full of goals, and we expect this week to be no different.

Here are the five best goalscorer bets to back in the UCL this week.

Erling Haaland vs Bayer Leverkusen

Manchester City’s preparation for this game went terribly as they lost 2-1 to Newcastle to suffer a critical blow in their race for the Premier League title. However, they have been quite impeccable in the UCL, where they sit fourth in the league phase table after four rounds.

Pep Guardiola’s men are favourites for this one, especially at home, where they have won their last six games.

Erling Haaland is our pick to score anytime. Despite failing to register at the weekend, he has scored in five successive UCL games and should have too much for Leverkusen’s defence.

Jonathan Burkardt vs Atalanta

Frankfurt survived a late scare to beat Cologne 4-3 over the weekend, making it five games unbeaten in the league to keep pace with leaders Bayern. They have been unable to replicate that good form in the UCL, failing to win any of their last three games in the competition.

One thing you can bank on when Frankfurt play is an abundance of goals. There have been 25 goals in their last eight games, and we expect goals in this one, with Atalanta having a disappointing season and coming off a 3-1 defeat against Napoli.

Our pick to score is Jonathan Burkardt, who has four goals in his last six appearances for Frankfurt.

Bradley Barcola vs Tottenham

When PSG play, it’s hard to pick their biggest goal threat, especially with Ousmane Dembele, and now Desire Doue out injured.

However, against a Tottenham team that crumbled like a pack of cards at the weekend against Arsenal, the Parisians should fancy their chances of a win. They have also scored 14 goals in just four UCL games this season, making another high-scoring contest likely.

Our pick to score is 23-year-old Bradley Barcola, who will be restored to the starting lineup after coming off the bench to score in the weekend’s 3-0 win over Le Havre. PSG actually lost to Bayern Munich in their last UCL outing and will be heavy favorites to get back on track, especially at home.

Kylian Mbappe vs Olympiacos

Real Madrid returned from the November international break with a frustrating 2-2 draw against surprise package Elche at the weekend, increasing the reported pressure on manager Xabi Alonso. Los Blancos will be desperate for a top performance and a big result against Olympiacos on Wednesday night.

Kylian Mbappe must return to the red-hot form he started the season with. The goals may have slowed down a bit in recent weeks, but he still has 18 goals in 16 games this season, including three in his last five appearances for the Spanish giants.

Vangelis Pavlidis vs Ajax

Ajax and Benfica sit bottom of the standings in the UCL League Phase, but the Portuguese side could finally get some points on the board against their struggling hosts.

Ajax have lost all four Champions League ties by an aggregate scoreline of 14-1, and they head into this tie having lost their last three games in all competitions.

Benfica have four wins from their last seven and look to be picking up form gradually.

Vangelis Pavlidis could be the one to make the difference, too. He scored in the Portuguese cup on Friday and now has six goals in his last six appearances for the club.
