This weekend promises several mouthwatering fixtures and potentially lots of goals. We are aiming to take advantage of the attacking overload we have enjoyed this season, especially as the games start to come thick and fast.

Here are the best five goalscorer picks for this weekend’s action.

Kylian Mbappe vs Villarreal

The headline game in La Liga this weekend features third-place Villarreal hosting a resurgent Real Madrid.

Villarreal have now lost five of their last seven matches and come up against a side that just thrashed Monaco 6-1 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Vinicius Junior contributed four goals in that midweek masterclass (one goal, three assists), but our pick to score anytime here remains Kylian Mbappe. The Real Madrid man has been in explosive form this season with 32 goals in 27 appearances, including a brace in the midweek win.

Igor Thiago vs Nottingham Forest

Brentford have had an outstanding season, defying all preseason expectations by sitting in the European places after 22 games.

A big reason for their surge is the form of striker Igor Thiago. The Brazilian forward has scored 16 league goals, currently second only to Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.

The Bees come into this clash against Nottingham Forest on a run of five wins in their last seven games and will be favourites to pile more misery on a struggling Forest side.

Robert Lewandowski vs Oviedo

Barcelona bounced back from last weekend’s shock defeat to Real Sociedad by defeating Slavia Prague 4-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Blaugrana had been in fantastic form before that defeat, winning 11 straight games, and will be heavy favorites to dispatch Real Oviedo this weekend. Hansi Flick’s attacking system allows for goals to be shared across the frontline, and our pick is Robert Lewandowski.

The veteran striker hasn’t been a guaranteed pick in recent weeks but has till managed 8 goals in his last 13 games, including a fine strike in the win over Prague.

Lewandowski to score anytime @1.50

Vangelis Pavlidis vs Estrela

Benfica remain unbeaten in the league but sit 10 points behind leaders FC Porto, meaning they cannot afford to drop points against mid-table Estrela.

Jose Mourinho’s men will be desperate to bounce back after losing to Juventus in the Champions League in midweek, a game in which star striker Vangelis Pavlidis missed from the penalty spot.

Nevertheless, Pavlidis is our pick to score here. The Greek forward has eight goals in his last eight games and is excellent value to keep that run going.

Pavlidis to score anytime @1.60

Luis Suarez vs Arouca

On paper, this should be a straightforward win for Sporting, who are seven points behind league leaders Porto and coming off a superb Champions League win over PSG.

Sporting have only one defeat in their last seven games and have scored in every match since the start of August. Colombian forward Luis Suarez scored both goals in the win over PSG, taking his tally to 10 goals in his last eight games.

He has now scored 22 goals in all competitions this season and, on current form, should be an excellent bet to score against Arouca.
