The season is rounding off, but there are still many targets to be met by clubs. The next few days will be critical for some teams.
The selections for the weekend are below:
Hoffenheim vs Werder Bremen
Hoffenheim failed to capitalise on Atakan Karazor’s 69th-minute red card last weekend, conceding five minutes into stoppage time as they surrendered a 3-2 lead over Stuttgart.
Romano Schmid’s second-half strike was nothing more than a consolation last weekend as Werder Bremen were beaten 3-1 on home soil by Augsburg.
Bremen have lost three of their last five league games and remain, mathematically at least, in the relegation fight.
PREDICTION: Hoffenheim to win at 1.48
RB Leipzig vs St. Pauli
RB Leipzig’s positive run of form came crashing to an end in gameweek 32 as Patrik Schick’s hat-trick inspired Bayer Leverkusen to a 4-1 home win over them.
St. Pauli travel to the Red Bull Arena in a critical position after a 2-1 home defeat to Mainz 05, combined with a draw for Wolfsburg against Freiburg, dropped Kiezkicker into the relegation zone.
The visitors are winless in 8 matches.
PREDICTION: RB Leipzig to win at 1.33
Sevilla vs Espanyol
Sevilla sit just outside the relegation zone after picking up a 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad last time out.
Espanyol are on a disastrous run of form, having failed to win any of their previous 17 La Liga games.
When the two sides met in November, Espanyol secured a 2-1 home victory.
PREDICTION: Sevilla to win either halves at 1.57
Atletico Madrid vs Celta Vigo
Atletico Madrid have started to turn things around after a disappointing run of form, winning their previous two matches.
Celta Vigo have lost three of their previous four matches, but they did secure a victory last time out.
When the two sides met back in October, a 1-1 draw was played out at Celta Vigo.
At home, Atletico Madrid are unbeaten since 2016 against Celta.
PREDICTION: Atletico Madrid to win either halves at 1.55
Bilbao vs Valencia
Athletic Club have lost three of their last five games in La Liga. At home, they have won four of their last six, and they could still finish in the European places.
Valencia are on a disappointing run of form at the moment, winning just once in their previous five games. Away from home, their form is the same, while they have won just three times on the road all season.
PREDICTION: Bilbao to win either halves at 1.39
Twente vs Sparta Rotterdam
Twente continue to strengthen their grip on a top-five finish, extending their unbeaten run to five matches after an entertaining 2-2 draw away at AZ Alkmaar.
Sparta Rotterdam, meanwhile, arrive searching for stability. Maurice Steijn’s side rescued a late point against Go Ahead Eagles last weekend, yet the broader trend remains troubling.
History also leans strongly toward the hosts. Twente are unbeaten in their last 13 meetings with Sparta and swept aside the Rotterdam side 5-1 earlier in the season.
PREDICTION: Twente to win at 1.35
Feyenoord vs AZ
Robin van Persie’s side have quietly pieced together an impressive run in recent months and arrive unbeaten across their last five league matches.
AZ Alkmaar, though, remains a dangerous opposition despite an inconsistent away form. Lee-Roy Echteld’s side are unbeaten in five matches overall and continue to possess enough attacking quality to unsettle opponents.
This still feels like a match between two sides pushing toward European ambitions, but one enters with greater clarity, momentum, and consistency.
PREDICTION: Feyenoord to win either halves at 1.37
Brighton vs Wolves
Brighton’s European push hit the buffers last Saturday after the 3-1 defeat at Newcastle saw them lose ground on the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford.
Wolves still have hopes of avoiding finishing bottom, but they realistically need a victory from their final three outings to catch Burnley.
PREDICTION: Brighton to win at 1.28
