Germany could not have asked for a better start to the World Cup.
A 7-1 win over Curacao immediately sent a message to the rest of the tournament and, after the disappointments of 2018 and 2022, it finally feels like Germany are playing with confidence again under Julian Nagelsmann.
Ivory Coast will be a much tougher test than Curacao, but I still think Germany have enough quality to make it two wins from two.
Here’s my 41.00 Bet Builder.
My Germany vs Ivory Coast Bet Builder (41.00)
- Germany to win
- Both teams to score
- Jonathan Tah to be carded
- Jamal Musiala 1+ goals or assists
- Kai Havertz 1+ goals or assists
- Over 8.5 corners
Germany To Win
Germany have now won 11 consecutive internationals and look like one of the most complete teams at the tournament.
The 7-1 win over Curacao was obviously against weaker opposition, but it followed victories over Ghana, the USA and Switzerland earlier this year. Nagelsmann has finally found a system that gets the best out of Germany’s attacking talent.
Ivory Coast are dangerous, but I still expect Germany to have too much quality.
Both Teams To Score
I actually think this is one of the stronger selections in the builder.
Four of Germany’s last five victories have seen both teams score, while Ivory Coast have found the net in 12 of their last 13 matches. They also have genuine attacking threats in Amad Diallo, Yan Diomande and Elye Wahi.
Germany should win, but I don’t completely trust them to keep a clean sheet.
Jonathan Tah To Be Carded
Tah is exactly the type of defender I look for in card markets.
He picked up seven yellow cards in 23 starts for Bayern Munich last season and averaged 1.16 fouls per 90 minutes. He also collected a booking during qualifying.
Ivory Coast are likely to play on the counter, meaning Tah could find himself making recovery challenges against quick forwards in transition.
Jamal Musiala 1+ Goal Or Assist
Musiala loves playing for Germany.
He scored in the 7-1 win over Curacao and already has 17 goal contributions in 43 appearances for the national team. At Euro 2024 he scored three goals in five starts and continues to be one of Germany’s biggest attacking weapons.
With Wirtz alongside him creating space, I fancy Musiala to make another decisive contribution.
Kai Havertz 1+ Goal Or Assist
Havertz heads into this game in excellent form.
He has scored five goals in his last five appearances for Arsenal and Germany combined and looks full of confidence. What I like most is his versatility – whether he’s playing through the middle or dropping deeper, he always seems to find a way to influence games.
One goal or assist feels very achievable.
Over 8.5 Corners
This line looks low for two attacking teams.
Germany had wave after wave of attacks against Curacao and regularly force opponents deep into their own penalty area. Ivory Coast also have dangerous wide players and won’t be afraid to attack when opportunities arise.
With both teams looking to build on opening-match victories, I can see plenty of corners arriving naturally.
