France couldn’t have asked for a better start to this World Cup, scoring 10 goals across three wins, but knockout football is completely different. Sweden deserve respect, especially with the attacking quality of Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak, but I still think France have far too much firepower.
I’m backing Les Bleus to put on another attacking display and book their place in the quarter-finals.

France Over 2.5 Team Goals
France’s attack has looked frightening throughout the tournament.
We’ve already scored 10 goals in three matches, hitting three against Senegal and four against Norway, while Sweden haven’t kept a clean sheet in 14 consecutive internationals. They also conceded five against the Netherlands during the group stage.
If France play anywhere near their current level, three goals feels well within reach.
Over 2.5 Match Cards
Knockout football always brings more intensity.
Sweden have already collected five yellow cards across their three World Cup games while averaging 11 fouls per match, and referee Danny Makkelie has shown nine yellow cards across his first two World Cup appointments.
With a place in the quarter-finals at stake, I expect this line to be cleared comfortably.
Kylian Mbappe 2+ Goals
Mbappe loves the knockout stages.
He already has 16 World Cup goals, with half of those coming in knockout matches, and no player at these finals has managed more than his nine shots on target.
After braces against Senegal and Iraq before drawing a blank against Norway, I can see him making another huge statement here.
Michael Olise 1+ Assist
He already has three assists during the group stage after an incredible club season where he registered 25 assists for Bayern Munich across the Bundesliga and Champions League.
With the movement France have ahead of him, he always looks capable of creating chances.
Dayot Upamecano 2+ Fouls
This feels like a nice player angle.
Upamecano has committed one foul in each of France’s three World Cup matches, and his biggest challenge here will be dealing with Viktor Gyokeres, who has been fouled three times already at these finals and consistently wins free-kicks for Sweden.
I expect the Bayern defender to have plenty to do.
Ousmane Dembele 2+ Shots
He’s scored four goals from just eight shots at this World Cup, including his hat-trick against Norway, and he’ll be desperate to keep pace with Mbappe in the Golden Boot race.
With confidence sky high, I expect him to keep testing the Swedish defence.
Camille’s Prediction
Sweden have enough quality to ask questions, but I don’t think they’ll be able to live with France for 90 minutes.
Our attack has simply looked too good.
