SATURDAY 8 AUGUST
STOKE CITY VS OLDHAM
Stoke City come into the game looking to build momentum after a mixed run of form, while Oldham Athletic have also had an inconsistent spell and face a tough test away from home.
Stoke’s stronger squad, home advantage and higher level of competition should give them the edge. The Potters should be able to control the game and have enough quality to secure a win.

ESTRELA AMADORA VS SPORTING LISBON
Estrela Amadora have had a mixed run of form heading into this fixture, while Sporting Lisbon come into the new season with confidence after another strong campaign. Sporting will be expected to dominate possession and create more chances, but Estrela could also pose a threat at home.
Sporting’s attacking quality, combined with Estrela’s ability to contribute to the scoreline, makes this a game with strong potential for goals.

SUNDAY 9 AUGUST
SPARTA ROTTERDAM VS FEYENOORD
Sparta Rotterdam and Feyenoord open their 2026/27 Eredivisie campaigns with a Rotterdam derby at Het Kasteel. Sparta will be looking to make home advantage count, while Feyenoord come into the fixture as the stronger side on paper. Their recent meetings have produced plenty of goals, including Sparta’s 4-3 win in the reverse fixture last season.
Both teams have enough attacking quality to find the net in what should be an open derby. Feyenoord’s attacking threat is difficult to ignore, but Sparta have shown they can hurt them as well in recent matches

ZWOLLE VS AJAX
PEC Zwolle come into this Eredivisie opener after a difficult end to last season, while Ajax will be looking to start the new campaign strongly. Zwolle lost four of their final six league games last season, whereas Ajax finished higher in the table and have the stronger squad on paper.
Ajax have also had the better of recent meetings, winning four of the last six against Zwolle. With the visitors possessing greater quality and attacking options,this looks like another win

HEREENVEEN VS TWENTE
Heerenveen come into the new Eredivisie season with home advantage after finishing eighth last campaign. They ended last season with mixed results, including a 2-3 defeat to Utrecht in the European play-offs, while Twente finished fourth and have already been in competitive action in European qualifying this summer.
This should be an open contest, with both sides capable of creating chances. Twente recently produced a 6-0 win in Europe, while Heerenveen’s final league games also featured goals, including a 3-2 defeat to Utrecht.

MOREIRENSE VS BRAGA
Moreirense finished last season with mixed form, winning just two of their final six league matches, while Braga ended the campaign strongly enough to secure a fourth-place finish. Braga have also already begun their competitive season with a 1-0 win away to Železni?ar Pan?evo in the Conference League qualifiers.
Braga have dominated this fixture in recent years, winning each of the last five meetings, including a 1-0 victory at Moreirense in April. With the visitors possessing greater quality and already having a competitive game under their belt.
