After a long but ultimately successful international break, club football returns and this weekend is packed with exciting matches.

As promised, we delivered 5/5 on our picks last time out, and we plan to keep the momentum going this weekend.

Real Madrid vs Villarreal

Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid are in danger of falling out of the title race by October, which makes this an absolute must-win, or at least must-not-lose, for Los Blancos. The hosts are six points behind Barcelona and will be motivated to get back on the right track this weekend.

Mourinho’s men have been brilliant at home, scoring 12 goals in just three league games at the Bernabeu, and we should see that pattern continue with plenty of goals in this one.

  • Real Madrid have scored 12 goals in their last three home league games.
  • Real Madrid have kept just one clean sheet in eight games.

Pick: Real Madrid to win and both teams to score (GG) @2.17

Chelsea vs Bournemouth

It would be a massive surprise if we failed to see goals at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, making both teams to score the most attractive option.

Chelsea’s matches under Xabi Alonso have been exciting for neutrals, with their opening five Premier League matches averaging 4.40 goals per game.

Bournemouth’s matches have also delivered the goods, with both teams to score landing in four of their five Premier League games this season.

  • Chelsea have conceded 13 goals in their last five games.
  • Bournemouth are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

Pick: Both teams to score (GG) @1.47

PSV vs Heerenveen

Defending champions PSV will be eager to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat to Twente before the international break. Before that defeat they had won four straight games, scoring an incredible 18 goals along the way.

Surprisingly, they have failed to keep a single clean sheet in any of their last eight games, and we are backing that to continue against a Heerenveen side that put four goals past Sparta Rotterdam before the break.

  • PSV have won five of their last six league games.
  • PSV have failed to keep a clean sheet in eight games.

Ajax vs Nijmegen

Ajax have not been at their absolute best in the Eredivisie this season, but the goals have been flying in from all angles. They are particularly lethal at home, scoring 18 goals in six matches, including seven in their last two outings.

This weekend’s opponents Nijmegen have won just three of their 12 games in all competitions this season, keeping just one clean sheet in that run. Ajax have also struggled to keep clean sheets, registering just one in their last seven games, which should make both teams to score a solid pick.

  • Ajax have scored 12 goals in their last three games.
  • Nijmegen’s last three games have produced 10 goals.

Pick: Ajax to win and both teams to score (GG) @2.19

Augsburg vs Bayern Munich

Bayern travel to Augsburg riding an unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season, looking to pick up from where they left off before the break after thrashing Union Berlin 7-0.

Both teams are in fine attacking form, with Augsburg’s last six league games producing an average of 4.2 goals per game. While we expect Bayern to win, the hosts certainly have enough quality to score, and there should be plenty of goals in this one.

  • Augsburg have scored 13 goals in their last five matches.
  • Bayern have won six of their last seven games.

Pick: Bayern Munich to win and both teams to score (GG) @1.80
