The 2024/25 English Premier League season continues at full throttle this weekend with matchday nine promising another round of thrilling encounters.
As teams battle for momentum at this still early stage of the season, fans can look forward to some enticing fixtures that could shake up the standings. High-flying clubs will be aiming to maintain their dominance, while others will be desperate to turn their fortunes around.
In this article, we will be taking a look at a selection of these matches and picking out our top tips and best booking code (odds at time of writing):
Brighton vs Wolves
Brighton have had a fantastic start to the campaign, sitting fifth in the table with 15 points from the opening eight matches, with four wins, three draws and one defeat.
Wolves, on the other hand, have lost all but one of their opening eight Premier League fixtures, drawing one, leaving them bottom of the standings with just one point. Their poor form has carried over into other competitions, winning their initial EFL Cup tie against Burnley – their only win of the term, before falling to defeat against Saturday’s opponents in the second round.
With these teams both coming into this game in extremely contrasting form, we believe that Brighton will extend Wolves’ misery with a win here.
Brighton to win & over 2.5 goals, 2.19
Chelsea vs Newcastle United
Nicolas Jackson faced a lot of criticism throughout his first year at Chelsea despite the striker enjoying a largely successful campaign, scoring 17 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions.
He has shown huge improvements on that level in the beginning phases of this campaign, already netting five times in just nine appearances, while also assisting a further three, including a goal against Liverpool last time out.
With Newcastle often looking defensively vulnerable, despite conceding just eight times, and Chelsea looking strong in attack, scoring 17 in eight games, we believe the striker will get chances and score yet again.
Nicolas Jackson to score anytime, 2.50
West Ham vs Manchester United
These two sides have faced extremely testing starts to the 2024/25 season, with West Ham sitting in 15th with just eight points from eight games, while Manchester United sit in 12th with 11 points from their first eight fixtures.
West Ham actually started the season in fair fashion, winning two of their first three, but they have since won just one of the following seven outings, leaving them in horrid form heading into this one.
Man United have also struggled in recent weeks, winning just one of their last six outings, but they have drawn in four of those outings, leaving them in marginally better standing than their hosts.
For this reason, we believe Man United, boosted by their win against Brentford last time out, will manage to secure the victory here.
Manchester United to win, 2.36
Arsenal vs Liverpool
The final game of matchday nine will see undoubtedly the standout fixture take place, as third in the table host first when Arsenal take on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal slipped up for the first time in the league in their last Premier League outing as they lost 2-0 to Bournemouth, seeing them drop four points behind Liverpool heading into this game as they have also drawn twice. William Saliba was also sent off in that last game, leaving Arsenal without their star central defender, something Liverpool will aim to exploit.
After losing to Nottingham Forest in matchday four, Liverpool have not dropped points in any of the following eight games across all competitions, leaving them on a stunning eight game winning streak heading into this one. Arne Slot’s men have looked confident and comfortable in almost every game they have played this season, and they will certainly be hopeful of picking up all three points here.
With Arsenal looking shaky in their last two games against Bournemouth and Shakhtar Donetsk, as well as being without Saliba for this match, we believe that Liverpool will manage to secure a crucial win.
Liverpool to win by 1 goal, 4.15

Games this weekend will go south, we might see big teams failing to win their games. Concerning liverpool and arsenal; despite the disadvantage arsenal have including the injury of their key players and saliba being absent, I still strongly believe that arsenal will get something out of liverpool. Don’t forget that saliba and saka are not the only boost arsenal have. Sunday’s game will be a great test for arsenal but getting a point out of it will be all easy for the gunners.
