The UEFA Champions League is back in action this week, following a brief break for the Europa League fixtures last week to take place. With the first round of league phase matches already setting the tone for Europe’s elite competition, anticipation is building as round two kicks off across the continent throughout this week.
With so many of the games sure to provide plenty of drama, action and intrigue, we are going to take a closer look at a selection of the matches and pick out our top tips and best booking code (odds at time of writing):
Borussia Dortmund vs Celtic
After recording a phenomenal campaign with Stuttgart in 2023/24, scoring 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances, Serhou Guirassy secured a brilliant move to Borussia Dortmund ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The striker has continued his form in the opening games for his new club, scoring four goals in his first four appearances across all competitions, including goals in each of his last three matches.
With the striker in such brilliant form in front of goal, and Dortmund likely to be in control of Tuesday’s game, Guirassy is sure to get chances and we expect the striker to score once again.
Serhou Guirassy to score anytime, 1.90
Arsenal vs PSG
One of the standout games of round two of the Champions League sees Arsenal host PSG at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
Both teams remain unbeaten across all competitions so far this season, Arsenal winning five and drawing three of their first eight matches and PSG winning six and drawing one of their opening seven.
We expect this to be an extremely tight match between two of Europe’s most elite teams, but with Arsenal looking more defensively vulnerable at times throughout this campaign and PSG producing phenomenal attacking output, we believe PSG will secure a narrow win here.
PSG to win, 4.80
Bayer Leverkusen vs Milan
Coming off the back of a sensational year for his team and individually, Florian Wirtz has picked up where he left off so far this campaign.
The attacking midfielder scored 18 and assisted 19 across all competitions last season, his highest of any campaign, and he has already netted six and assisted one in eight appearances across all competitions this term.
Wirtz scored twice in Bayer Leverkusen’s opening Champions League match, and we believe that their main man will get on the scoresheet once again here against Milan.
Florian Wirtz to score anytime, 3.25
Slovan Bratislava vs Manchester City
Manchester City will undoubtedly be the favourites to secure a commanding win heading into their away match against Slovan Bratislava, a side that lost 5-1 to Celtic on the opening day of the competition.
City are a much superior side to Celtic and should hold even more control over the game, but Slovan Bratislava’s home advantage could help them limit the damage to less than what they received in that opening match.
Despite that, we still believe Pep Guardiola’s side will record a significant victory against Slovan Bratislava, scoring at least 3.5 goals throughout the match.
Manchester City to win & over 3.5 goals, 1.52
