The 2024 European Championships entered into the final round of group stage games over the weekend, raising the stakes of every game as all the teams battle it out to secure a place in the knockout stages of the competition.
Tuesday will host four games from Group C and Group D of the tournament, and in this article, we’re going to take a closer look at these matches and pick out our top tips and booking codes:
France vs Poland
France have not been at their best so far this tournament but their four points from the first two games is almost certainly enough to see them through to the next round, but Didier Deschamps will want his men to win their final match against Poland and secure top of the group.
Poland are yet to pick up a point from their matches and have looked extremely vulnerable in defence throughout the majority of their fixtures, something France’s overwhelming quality is sure to capitalise on. For this reason, we believe that France will win this one with over 2.5 goals being scored.
France to win & over 2.5 goals, 1.69
A France player is yet to score at this tournament with their only goal being an own-goal from Maximilian Wober in their win over Austria. That includes Euro 2016 Golden Boot winner Antoine Griezmann, who came extremely close to scoring in the previous matchup with the Netherlands.
The attacker has come close on a number of occasions or France and with Kylian Mbappe’s involvement in doubt after breaking his nose in the opening match, Griezmann will be deployed further up the pitch. This will leave Griezmann as the focal point of the France attack, and we believe he will get his goal in this one.
Antoine Griezmann to score anytime, 2.85
Netherlands vs Austria
This game is undoubtedly the standout fixture of the day, pitting the current Group C leaders Netherlands up against third-place Austria. While the Netherlands have all but confirmed their place in the next round of the competition, a point for Austria would almost certainly see them advance into the knockout rounds.
Both sides have been impressive in the opening stages of this competition and while we do expect this one to be a very tight matchup, we believe that Austria have demonstrated a much more solid defence while also being able to produce moments of quality in attacking areas. For this reason, we believe that Austria will win this one.
Austria to win, 4.10
Marcel Sabitzer is deployed much higher up the field for his country than he has become accustomed to in club football, often playing off the left of a front four. While this is not his usual position the midfielder has excelled at this tournament and shown moments of quality in each game so far.
Sabitzer came closest to scoring in the previous match when he took the ball round the keeper before being taken down for a penalty, and we expect Sabitzer will get his much-deserved goal today.
Marcel Sabitzer to score anytime, 4.75
Denmark vs Serbia
Denmark have been rather unfortunate to not have won both of their opening matches of Group D having been the best team in the opening game against Slovenia and outplaying England for large parts of the second match.
They come into this game level on points with Serbia, meaning the winner of this game will guarantee themselves at least second place in the group. While Serbia do provide plenty of threat throughout a game, we believe that Denmark will finally grab their first three points of the tournament.
Denmark to win, 2.27
Christian Eriksen has been a threat during both matches so far, scoring the opening goal in the first game and threatening on a number of occasions against England.
The hugely talented attacking midfielder will once again be relied upon to play a major part in attacking areas for Denmark, and we believe that Eriksen will get on the scoresheet once again in this one.
Christian Eriksen to score anytime, 4.25
England vs Slovenia
England may not have hit the heights that many expected of them in their opening two matches, most recently disappointing in a 1-1 draw with Denmark, but they could still secure top spot in the group with a victory here.
Slovenia have been far from convincing in their two 1-1 draws so far, and while England have not been at their best, we expect that Gareth Southgate’s squad will have too much quality for their opponents to handle and go on to win this one fairly easily.
England to win, 1.35
Harry Kane got off the mark with a poacher’s goal to open the scoring against Denmark and the striker will be hoping to increase his tally as he looks to add the Euro Golden Boot to his World Cup version come the end of the tournament.
Kane and England have not been at their best so far this competition, but the striker’s goal against Denmark is an example of how dangerous Kane can be at any moment, and we believe the striker will get on the scoresheet here.
Harry Kane to score anytime, 1.95
