The international break is set to come to a close over the coming days with the impending return of club football across the globe.
One of those tournaments will host the final games of this international break tonight, as the UEFA Nations League pauses until the next round of fixtures in November. Eight matches will take place throughout the evening, with a number of these seeing some of Europe’s elite nations taking part as they push for a top-two finish, while others fight to avoid relegation.
In this article, we will be taking a look at a selection of these matches and picking out our top tips:
Scotland vs Portugal
Portugal come into this one having won all of their last three matches since suffering a penalty defeat to France in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, leaving them in fantastic form heading into this game.
Scotland, on the other hand, have failed to win in any of their last seven matches across all competitions, including a 2-1 defeat to Portugal during the last international break, leaving them as the underdogs here.
With this, we expect Portugal to continue their strong run with another win here.
Portugal to win, 1.58 – 82MGP
Spain vs Serbia
Spain are on a remarkable run of results across all competitions, unbeaten in their last 13 fixtures with 11 wins and two draws in that time, as well as triumphing in the Euro 2024 final against England.
Serbia, in comparison, have won just one of their last six across all competitions, with this coming in their last outing against Switzerland, though they did hold out for a 0-0 draw against Spain in a game that their opponents dominated in their last meeting.
While we expect Serbia to put out another strong defensive performance as Spain control the game, we ultimately believe that Spain will win this one.
Spain to win, 1.40 – 82PTB
Poland vs Croatia
Poland have lost each of their last two matches heading into this game, including a 1-0 defeat to Croatia in the last international break in a game that the opponents dominated, taking 23 shots to their 11.
That win for Croatia brought an end to a disappointing run of four matches without a win, including a dismal group stage exit in the Euros, and they have since gone on to beat Scotland in their following outing.
We believe that Croatia will once again dominate this fixture, and with them in positive spirits after back-to-back triumphs, we believe they will win here.
Croatia to win, 2.44 – 82T7B
Switzerland vs Denmark
Switzerland were one of the best-performing sides at the Euros, progressing through a group of Hungary, Scotland and Germany without suffering a loss before beating Italy comfortably in the round of 16.
The Swiss did eventually come undone against England in the quarter-finals, narrowly losing on penalties after conceding an 80th-minute equaliser, and that loss has marked the start of a four-game losing streak.
Denmark, on the other hand, had a disappointing Euros where they went winless in their four games, drawing three group games before losing to Germany in the round of 16. However, they bounced back with a win against Switzerland and a win against Serbia before narrowly falling 1-0 to Spain last time out.
With this contrast in form heading into this game, we believe Denmark will win this one.
