Alongside the on-going European Championships, the Copa America 2024 semi-finals are also set to begin later this week as Argentina take on Canada on Wednesday before Uruguay battle it out with Colombia for the second spot in the final.
The tournament so far has been filled with plenty of exciting and dramatic moments, from the hosts USA being knocked out in the group stage to Brazil going out on penalties against Uruguay in the last round, and these two matches are sure to be no different with plenty of excitement to come.

Argentina vs Canada
Canada have done exceptionally well to make it to the semi-final in their first-ever appearance at a Copa America, progressing through their group in second place before beating Venezuela on penalties in the last round.
However, they are set to come up against the current World Champions for the second time in this tournament, last facing each other on the opening day of Group A when Argentina controlled the game and came out 2-0 winners.
Argentina may have won all four of their games and conceded just once so far, but Ecuador came extremely close to eliminating them in the last round as they had the better chances throughout the game. Despite Lionel Messi also missing the opening penalty in the shootout, Ecuador went on to miss twice and Argentina booked their place in the semi-finals.
While we do believe that Canada will be able to replicate Ecuador’s performance and be a formidable opponent for Argentina, we do believe that the World Champions’ outstanding quality will eventually get them over the line and into the final as they search for back-to-back Copa America titles.

Uruguay vs Colombia
Uruguay vs Colombia has every possibility of becoming the game of the tournament at this year’s Copa America, pitting two of the best-performing sides so far against one another in hopes of reaching the final.
Uruguay come into the game having won all three of their group games before exceptionally beating Brazil on penalties in a game that Uruguay could have won in normal time if they were able to convert one of their many chances.
Colombia have also been brilliant so far, winning two of their three group games and drawing with Brazil before smashing Panama 5-0 in the last round. Talisman James Rodriguez’s performances have reminded many of his phenomenal breakout 2014 World Cup, recording one goal and five assists, tied with Lionel Messi (2021) for most assists in a single edition of the tournament.
While Rodriguez has been phenomenal in this tournament and could break Messi’s record with another assist in this one, we believe that Uruguay will be coming into this one with huge confidence after knocking out Brazil and will go on to win this game.
