Goal markets are among the most popular options in sports betting, particularly in football. Unlike traditional win-draw-lose bets, goal markets allow bettors to predict aspects surrounding the number of goals in a game.
How Goal Markets Work
- Multi-Goal Market
The Multi-Goal market allows you to bet on a range of goals that you expect to be scored in a singular game. For example, in the upcoming match between Manchester City and United, you could bet on between 2-5 goals to be scored, and if you are correct then your bet wins.
This market allows you to bet on anything between 1-2 goals to 5-6 goals and anything in between.
- Home/Away Goals Exact
This market allows you to bet on the exact number of goals you expect either the home or away side to score. For example, if you believe Man Utd are going to score twice, then you could place a bet on this, while if you believe Man City will score four times, then you can bet on them to score 3+.
- Highest Scoring Half
This simply allows you to bet on what half you think will contain the highest number of goals, or whether you think the same number will be scored in each half. For example, if you believe the first half of the Manchester Derby will contain three goals while the second half will contain one, then you could bet on the first half to have more goals, and if you are right, then your bet wins.

- Multi-Goal Home/Away
This market is similar to the Multi-Goal market, but allows you to specifically choose the number of goals that you believe the chosen team will score. For example, you could place a bet on Man City to score between 1-3 goals, and if you are right, then your bet wins.
- Last Team To Score
This market allows you to bet on which team will be the last to score in the match, while you could also bet on their to be no goals in the entire game.
- Goal/No Goal HT / Goal/No Goal 2HT
This market allows you to bet on if you think both teams or just one team will score in either the first half or the second half. For example, if you believe both teams will score in the first half but only one will score in the second then you could bet on ‘GG/NG’, and if this happens, then your bet wins.
- Total Goals 1st + 2nd Half
This market allows you to bet on there being a certain number of goals in both the first half and second half, however, the terms used can make this market slightly complicated for a first-time bettor.
If you bet on ‘1 or less and 1 or less – No’ then this means you are betting on both halves to not have or less goals, meaning you are betting on both to have more than 1 goal. If you bet on ‘1 or less and 1 or less – Yes’ then you are betting on both halves to have 1 or less goals.
Bet on all the above goal markets as the EPL returns this weekend!
