FPL Gameweek 10: XI To Watch | Formation: 3-4-3
Nick Pope (Newcastle, £5.2m) – vs West Ham (A)
Nick Pope keeps his place between the sticks after another solid display in GW9. Newcastle’s defensive numbers remain elite, only Arsenal have conceded fewer expected goals this season.
West Ham have looked toothless in attack, with the league’s second-lowest xG per shot (0.09) and just one goal in their last three games. That makes Pope a standout option for save points and clean-sheet potential.
He’s second in total FPL goalkeeper points this season, and with five clean sheets already, another shutout looks well within reach this weekend.
Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal, £6.5m) – vs Burnley (A)
Gabriel is back in the Scout Picks XI and remains essential. Arsenal’s defensive metrics are off the charts – the fewest goals conceded, lowest xG against, and the most clean sheets in the division.
Facing a Burnley side with one of the worst attacking outputs in the league (third fewest goals, second-worst xG), Gabriel is almost a must-own this week. He also carries a set-piece threat, having already chipped in with attacking returns this season.
Jurrien Timber (Arsenal, £6.1m) – vs Burnley (A)
Doubling up on Arsenal defenders makes perfect sense. Timber has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers and regularly racks up bonus points thanks to his ball progression and duels won.
With Burnley struggling to break down organized backlines, Arsenal’s double-up looks primed for another clean sheet.
Marc Guéhi (Crystal Palace, £4.9m) – vs Brentford (H)
Palace have quietly built one of the strongest defensive records in the Premier League this season, conceding fewer than 10 goals across their first nine matches. Guéhi’s consistency and nailed-on minutes make him a steady, budget-friendly pick.
At Selhurst Park, Oliver Glasner’s side are especially hard to beat, and Guéhi’s aerial presence could cause problems for a Brentford side that have lost their last three away fixtures.
Bukayo Saka (Arsenal, £10.0m) – vs Burnley (A)
Captaincy favourite for Gameweek 10. Saka continues to deliver elite attacking numbers, averaging 0.84xGI/90 over his last three matches and sitting among the top creators in the league.
Against a Burnley side that have conceded the third-most goals in the league, Arsenal’s star boy is a standout choice for both goals and assists. Expect plenty of involvement in final-third play and set pieces.
Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth, £8.1m) – vs Nottingham Forest (H)
Semenyo remains the top-scoring midfielder in FPL and a fixture-proof pick. His explosiveness in transition makes him dangerous even against stronger sides, and he’s now Bournemouth’s talisman under Iraola.
Forest have been poor on the road, losing six of their last seven away matches and conceding heavily in the process.
Bryan Mbeumo (Man Utd, £8.2m) – vs Nottingham Forest (A)
Mbeumo has been crucial to United’s attacking revival, contributing in consecutive league wins and looking sharper under Amorim’s system. His 0.71xGI/90 puts him among the most dangerous midfielders in the game, and with Forest struggling, he could add to his tally this weekend.
Yankuba Minteh (Brighton, £6.0m) – vs Leeds (H)
Brighton face a Leeds side that have been defensively fragile away from home, conceding nine goals in their last four road trips. Minteh’s pace and directness can exploit those gaps, especially against attack-minded full-backs like Bogle.
He’s due a return after a quiet few weeks, and the underlying data (0.40xGI/90) suggests he’s still performing at a strong level.
Erling Haaland (Man City, £14.8m) – vs Aston Villa (A)
The Norwegian blanked last week, but history tells us that rarely happens twice in a row. Haaland leads the league in xG, shots in the box, and big chances.
City’s record against Bournemouth is dominant – 15 wins in 16 meetings – and Haaland is predicted to be the most likely scorer of GW10. He’s an easy inclusion, and captaincy isn’t a bad idea either.
Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace, £7.7m) – vs Brentford (H)
Mateta continues to post elite underlying numbers, ranking just behind Haaland for xG per 90. His home form at Selhurst Park is particularly strong, 21 goals in his last 27 home matches, and Palace will lean on him again to deliver against Brentford.
He’s underperformed his xG slightly this season, meaning he could be due a big haul soon.

Danny Welbeck (Brighton, £6.4m) – vs Leeds (H)
A surprise package this season, Welbeck is in red-hot form with five goals in his last four matches. His 41.7% shot conversion rate is unsustainable long term but highlights just how confident he’s been in front of goal.
With Brighton creating chances freely, Welbeck’s finishing touch makes him a smart differential pick for GW10.
