English Premier League Matchday 28: Top 3 Moments

With less English Premier League action than usual due to FA Cup fixtures, there were still plenty of talking points this past weekend and we picked our top three.

Although just seven games took place this weekend in the top-flight of English football, there was still drama including VAR controversy and last minute equalisers.

With there being a halt to proceedings in the Premier League next weekend due to an international break, you can make this break even more exciting at Bet9ja where you can find hundreds of markets for all the big matches.

Alexander Isak brace: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Newcastle United

Nottingham Forest took the lead in the first half of the match thanks to an Emmanuel Dennis goal in the 26th minute, but the home side failed to capitalise on this and ended up losing 2-1.

Alexander Isak was given the nod again by Eddie Howe to start the game, and that decision paid dividends after his brace meant that the Magpies came away with all three points.

Isak’s first goal came on the brink of half-time in added time, and the Swedish forward kept his cool in the 93rd minute when he found the back of the net from the penalty spot to ensure the victory.

Simms saves the day: Chelsea 2-2 Everton

Everton went behind twice in the game at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, with deadly due Joao Felix and Kai Havertz finding the back of the net for the home side.

Ellis Simms was recalled from his loan move at Sunderland in January, and he scored his first goal since returning to his parent club in the dying embers of the match to secure an important point for Sean Dyche’s side in their fight against relegation.

Saints comeback: Southampton 3-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Ivan Perisic made the score 3-1 in the 74th minute and Antonio Conte might have thought that his side were certain to secure all three points, but the Saints had their say and the game ended in a 3-3 stalemate.

The ever-reliable James Ward-Prowse got the equaliser in the 93rd minute from the penalty spot to score his seventh goal of the Premier League campaign.

The point for both sides might have a great impact at both ends of the table come the end of the season, as Spurs are on the hunt for Champions League qualification and the Saints are fighting for survival in the Premier League. It also led to a famous rant from Conte about Spurs, calling his players ‘selfish’ leading to calls for him to be sacked as manager.
