2023/24 English Premier League Predictions

This Friday sees the return of the English Premier League, with treble-winning champions Manchester City taking on newly-promoted Burnley in the season’s opening fixture.

Despite City’s dominance last season across the main three competitions, Arsenal ran them close in the league and will look to go one better this year, and the likes of Newcastle may keep improving due to the financial backing that they have.

Here are our league table predictions for this season.

1. Manchester City

Manchester City look likely to make it four in a row in the English Premier League despite losing Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez this summer. Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne formed an incredible partnership last season, and with the addition of Josko Gvardiol, City will improve defensively as they continue to play across multiple competitions.

2. Arsenal

Arsenal ran City extremely close last season, and look well placed to match or even improve on their performance this year. Having signed the likes of Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber, Mikel Arteta’s young side will be a serious threat to Pep Guardiola’s side. This title could go right down to the wire.

3. Liverpool

Over the last 18 months Jurgen Klopp has added many new faces to his Liverpool squad and will hope that his side can continue to build up the chemistry that they showed during periods last season. The likes of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah can blow anyone away on their day, and the lack of UEFA Champions League football will allow Liverpool to focus on their Premier League form.

4. Manchester United

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side performed well last season, but a few heavy defeats against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City left fans wondering if United are at the level required to break into title contention. If the likes of Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund can make an instant impact, The Red Devils will be a potential title threat.

5. Newcastle United

Newcastle were outstanding last season, reaching Champions League football for the first time in over two decades. Despite signing the likes of Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento, it remains to be seen if their squad has the depth to compete in the league on top of playing in Europe. If The Magpies add a couple more signings however, this could change.

6. Chelsea

Last season was disastrous for Chelsea, but with a new manager in Mauricio Pochettino at the helm, they will be hoping to reach European football once again next season. Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk have impressed in pre-season and will be hoping to take this form into domestic competition, but their lack of midfield depth could be a concern.

7. Brighton

Brighton enjoyed an excellent season under Roberto De Zerbi last season, qualifying for Europe for the first time. IIf they manage to keep the likes of Moises Caicedo and Kaoru Mitoma along with Evan Ferguson establishing himself as their first choice striker, it could well be another impressive season for The Seagulls.

8. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are another team going into the new season under new coaching, with Ange Postecoglou taking over the reins in North London. Much of their success this season hinges on Harry Kane’s future – if England’s captain stays at Spurs then they could enjoy an impressive season. If not, then they will have to rebuild their squad drastically.
