Football continues to come thick and fast this summer, with barely a moment to catch breath. While some clubs are deep into preparations for their upcoming campaigns, others are still locked in competitive action, fighting for crucial points in their domestic leagues. Meanwhile, the spotlight also shines on the international stage, as the Women’s European Championship captivates fans.
We take a closer look at a selection of the weekend’s top matches and picks out our best booking codes (odds at time of writing):
Liverpool vs Milan
Liverpool got their pre-season underway with a 3-1 win over Preston North End earlier this month, but their tour Asian tour is set to begin with a clash against fellow European powerhouses AC Milan.
Milan were defeated 1-0 by Arsenal in their opening friendly, but a dismal performance saw them take just three shots to Arsenal’s 23, and as they come up against a stronger Liverpool side that have signed some of Europe’s best talents this summer, a similar performance could be expected.
With that in mind, we believe Liverpool will show their strength and secure a victory in this pre-season encounter.

Lionel Messi is having yet another remarkable campaign for Inter Miami, boasting 24 goals and seven assists in just 29 appearances, and his most prolific run of form has come in their most recent matches.
Messi has been in record-breaking form in the MLS in the past months, as the Argentinian scored a brace in five consecutive matches to set and then extend the record for most consecutive MLS games with multiple goals scored.
An underwhelming Inter Miami performance in a 3-0 defeat to Cincinnati followed, but Messi was back with a brace once again in their 5-1 win over New York Red Bulls last time out, meaning the forward is coming into this one having scored 13 in his last eight MLS appearances.
With Messi’s sensational goalscoring record in mind, combined with Inter Miami’s aim to get revenge against Cincinnati for the recent 3-0 loss, we believe the legendary forward will score yet again in this one.

Arsenal vs Newcastle United
Arsenal continue their pre-season tour with a match-up against Newcastle United on Sunday, with the Gunners aiming to build on their 1-0 win over AC Milan, while the Magpies look to bounce back from a miserable 4-0 loss to Celtic.
The Gunners impressed in their pre-season clash with the Italian side, taking 23 shots to Milan’s three, and they will be looking for a similar performance against a Newcastle side that are reeling from the 4-0 defeat to the Bhoys.
Things have only become worse for the Magpies, as star striker Alexander Isak has expressed his desire to explore his options this summer, meaning they will remain without the Sweden international on their pre-season tour.
Given Arsenal’s impressive start to pre-season, combined with Newcastle’s turbulent past few weeks with results and Isak’s desire to leave, the Gunners should comfortably win this one.

England vs Spain
In a repeat of the 2023 FIFA World Cup Final, England – the reigning European Championship holders – will take on Spain – the reigning World Cup holders – in the 2025 UEFA Euro Final.
England have been at far from their best on their route to the final, having had to come from 2-0 down against Sweden to send the game to penalties – which they eventually won 3-2 after 14 penalties taken. The Lionesses then had to score a 96th-minute equaliser against Italy in the semi-final to send the game to extra-time, where Chloe Kelly scored the rebound from her saved penalty in the 119th-minute to send England to the final.
In comparison, Spain have been dominant in the competition, including a comfortable 2-0 win over Switzerland in the quarter-final – taking 23 shots to Switzerland’s four – and beating Germany 1-0 in extra-time of their semi-final clash.
While England have shown brilliant determination to get back into and ultimately progress from their last two matches, the Lionesses must improve their performance level in the final if they are to avoid defeat, as the likes of Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas and Mariona Caldentey – among others – will put the game to bed much earlier if England perform at the same level.
England may well improve in the final, and we expect a much stronger defensive showing than in their previous outings, but we believe Spain’s star players will eventually break through their back line, leading us to expect a hard-fought encounter that Spain will win by just one goal, inside 90 minutes.
