BIG NAMES WHO WILL MISS THE START OF THE ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON DUE TO INJURY

The highly anticipated 2024/25 Premier League campaign kicks off tomorrow evening, and we’ve taken a closer look at some of the big names who will miss the start of the season due to injury.

Several key players, who were expected to have significant impacts for their respective clubs, will be major absences in the early stages of the campaign.

Leny Yoro, Manchester United

Manchester United signed highly-rated French defender Leny Yoro for a fee in the region of £58.9m. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury during a pre-season fixture. Yoro has undergone surgery on his foot and is expected to miss the first three months of the season, which is a significant loss for United.

Reece James, Chelsea

Reece James has endured a frustrating couple of years, missing large portions of football for Chelsea due to recurring injuries. Unfortunately, this trend continues as we head into the 2024/25 campaign. The English right-back has picked up another hamstring injury and is set to miss the opening fixture against Manchester City.

Oscar Bobb, Manchester City

Oscar Bobb impressed towards the end of last season and during pre-season, but he is set to miss a significant portion of the upcoming campaign in what could have been a breakthrough season for him. The 21-year-old fractured a bone in his leg and will be out of action for several months.

Jarrod Branthwaite, Everton

Everton defender Jarrod Branthwaite has not featured during pre-season after undergoing minor groin surgery. Although Branthwaite is edging closer to his return, the Toffees are expected to be without their key defender for the opening fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Rasmus Højlund, Manchester United

Rasmus Højlund was expected to lead the line for Manchester United in the upcoming season, but Erik ten Hag will have to wait for his availability. The Danish international picked up an injury against Arsenal in pre-season and is expected to miss around six weeks of action—a significant loss for his side.
