Wan-Bissaka, who joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace in a £50m deal in 2019, leaves Old Trafford after five years of service. During his time with the Red Devils, he made 190 appearances and scored two goals. His defensive prowess, particularly his tackling ability, made him a key player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who signed him. However, Wan-Bissaka’s role at United diminished after the appointment of Erik ten Hag, with the defender losing his status as a regular starter. Despite this, he still managed to make 64 appearances over the past two seasons.

Reflecting on his move to West Ham, Wan-Bissaka expressed his excitement about joining the London club. “It was a no brainer for me to join West Ham – I’m excited and happy to be here,” he said. “I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there. I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others’ backs through thick and thin.”

Born in London, Wan-Bissaka also spoke about his delight in returning to the capital. “It’s an amazing feeling to be back,” he added. The defender’s arrival at the London Stadium adds depth to a West Ham squad that has been significantly strengthened during this transfer window. He joins fellow new signings Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Füllkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodríguez.

Wan-Bissaka’s departure from Manchester United has also paved the way for the club to secure the signing of Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui, with the Red Devils expected to complete the deal soon.

West Ham will kick off their 2024-25 English Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on 17 August, while Manchester United will face Fulham on 16 August. The Hammers’ fans will be eager to see how their new-look squad performs in the upcoming season.
