Peru vs Chile
Chile come into this Copa America with the expected lineup seeing Eduardo Vargas leading the line with Alexis Sanchez playing slightly behind the striker. Vargas has historically played well for his nation, scoring 42 times in 108 games across all competitions including 14 in 23 Copa America matches.
A disappointing 2022 for his country saw him fail to score in any of his 10 appearances, resulting in the striker failing to feature for Chile throughout the entirety of 2023. His return to the squad this year has seen the striker seemingly return to his best with two goals in three appearances, and we expect Vargas to continue his fantastic goalscoring form in this competition with a goal in this one.
Eduardo Vargas to score anytime, 3.25 – 6QP67V2
Turkey vs Portugal
Portugal came into the tournament with huge expectations as one of the favourites to win the entire competition and despite eventually winning 2-1 in their opening game, their performance was far from ideal. They went 1-0 down just after the hour mark but quickly equalised seven minutes later before Francisco Conceicao scored the winner in the 92nd minute, just two minutes after coming off.
Despite dominating the possession, Portugal had very few big chances of note and they will need to vastly improve if they are to beat a Turkey side who impressed in their match.
Turkey scored two of the best goals of the tournament so far thanks to Mert Muldur and Arda Guler’s efforts with Kerem Akturkoglu securing the three points with the final kick of the game. While Georgia did have their fair share of efforts, Turkey were the dominant side and showed fantastic quality in the attacking areas, something that could trouble Portugal.
While Turkey are likely to be more of a threat to Portugal, we expect Roberto Martinez’s side to perform to a much higher level in their second game and we believe they will take the three points.
Portugal to win, 1.58 – 6QP67V2
Belgium vs Romania
Belgium and Romelu Lukaku will not have been pleased with their rather unfortunate beginning to what could be the last tournament with their perceived ‘golden generation’ after they fell to defeat against Slovakia.
The defeat saw them become the first and only of the major footballing nations to lose their opening fixture, but the performance was deserving of much more. Twice Belgium thought they had equalised thanks to Lukaku but both times the goals were chalked off, once due to an agonisingly close offside and another for a controversial handball decision.
Belgium did have plenty of other chances that they were not able to convert, but we expect that both Belgium and Lukaku will make up for missed opportunities with at least a goal in this one.
Romelu Lukaku to score anytime, 2.00 – 6QP687W
USA vs Bolivia
USA come into Copa America as the host nation and will be looking to win the tournament for the first ever time on home soil before jointly hosting the next World Cup in 2026.
The host country have been extremely inconsistent in their recent outings, winning five and losing four of their last 10 games. Some of these results include a humiliating 5-1 loss to Colombia and a 2-1 defeat to Trinidad & Tobago while they have also beaten Mexico 2-0 and impressed in a 1-1 draw with Brazil in their most recent outing.
Their opponents Bolivia, on the other hand, have won just two of their last 14 fixtures and 11 of those have ended in defeat. They have not beaten the USA in either of the last two meetings and have been defeated in all of their last 10 Copa America games.
For these reasons, we believe that the USA will comfortably go on to win this game and get their competition off to the perfect start.
USA to win, 1.19 – 6QP68F7
