As we head into the first international break of the season we have one more chance to look back at another thrilling weekend of English Premier League action, which saw all the excitement and drama that we’ve come to expect week in week out.
Arsenal beat Manchester United in dramatic fashion on Sunday, with three hat-tricks scored elsewhere across the country. Here are the top five goals of the week.
Goal A – Dominik Szbobszlai vs Aston Villa
After a big-money move from RB Leipzig, Szoboszlai has made himself right at home at Anfield with a string of excellent performances.
His goal against Aston Villa was a thing of beauty – the ball fell to him on the edge of the box after a corner and he wasted no time in firing a bullet of a first-time shot into the far corner on his weaker left foot.
Goal B – Evan Ferguson vs Newcastle United
At just 18 years old, Irishman Evan Ferguson is already looking like a player who is ready to rule over European football for the next decade.
His second of three goals against Newcastle United showed exactly why big clubs will be queueing up for his signature in coming transfer windows, as he picked the ball up 25 yards out and sent a pinpoint shot into the bottom corner of Nick Pope’s goal.
Goal C – Marcus Rashford vs Arsenal
Manchester United’s star man Marcus Rashford made the breakthrough for the Red Devils against Arsenal with a fantastic piece of counter attacking play after 25 minutes of constant Arsenal pressure.
Latching onto Christian Eriksen’s brilliant pass, the England winger cut inside Ben White before sending a powerful drive past Aaron Ramsdale, onto the post, and in to put United a goal up against the run of play
Goal D – Martin Odegaard vs Manchester United
Martin Odegaard has developed into a top-class central midfielder under Mikel Arteta, with his late runs into the box a trademark of his playing style.
Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko combined brilliantly down the left wing just moments after Rashford had put United ahead, with the Brazilian winger feeding Arsenal’s captain in space just inside the box.
Odegaard made no mistake and fired a first-time finish low and hard past André Onana to equalise for the Gunners and send the Emirates Stadium crowd wild.
Goal E – Cristian Romero vs Burnley
Tottenham Hotspur put five goals past Burnley at Turf Moor, with Argentine centre back Cristian Romero’s long range effort the pick of the bunch.
Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side found James Maddison difficult to deal with all match, and it was his cross that led to chaos in the Burnley box. The ball was eventually cleared, but only to Romero who lashed a fierce drive into the top left hand corner from 25 yards.
