Five African Stars Who Could Make A Big Move This January Transfer Window

The January transfer window is well underway, and there is still more than enough time for teams to sign players before the window slams shut. Here we picked out five African stars who could get a move before the deadline at the end of the month.

Mohammed Kudus to Arsenal

The Gunners will be without talisman Bukayo Saka for months after he underwent a procedure following a hamstring injury he picked up earlier in December.

Arsenal were already linked with Mohammed Kudus before Saka sustained his injury. They are long-term admirers of the Ghana international, after former West Ham senior scout Mike Brown told Football Insider that he is certainly on the list of targets for Arsenal ahead of the coming transfer windows. Kudus has become a key player at West Ham, having made 59 appearances, scored 17 goals, and provided 18 assists since joining from Ajax in 2023. This is certainly a transfer to watch.

Victor Osimhen to Man United

Man Utd are trying to sell Marcus Rashford this month, and Napoli could be a destination for him. According to The Sun, the Serie A side could include Victor Osimhen in a swap deal for Rashford. Osimhen has had an impressive start to life at Galatasaray after making a season-long loan switch from Napoli in the summer. His 12 goals in 15 games have meant that top clubs around Europe have been linked with a move for him in this transfer window.

The striker’s loan contains a break clause for the January window. With three weeks remaining until the transfer deadline, the Super Eagles’ forward could have a new club before the end of the month.

Bryan Mbeumo to Arsenal

The Cameroon international has been in superb form in the Premier League this season, and according to Caught Offside, both Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in signing the Brentford forward. Mbeumo could make an instant impact at Arsenal, where Mikel Arteta has a shortage of quality up front after the loss of form of the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz. This had left Arsenal overly reliant on Saka to provide their spark in attack before his injury.

Mbeumo is Brentford’s top scorer this season with 13 goals in 20 Premier League appearances. It seems inevitable that he is set for a big move in the near future.

Omar Marmoush to Man City

Marmoush has caught the attention of a number of top clubs after scoring 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga games this season. According to ESPN, Man City are interested in a deal for the Egypt international who is rated at around £50 million in the January window.

Marmoush has spearheaded Frankfurt’s push for Champions League qualification, as they sit third in the Bundesliga. Only Harry Kane has scored more goals in the league than him this season. With City needing an attacking revamp to get back their usual title contention, Marmoush could be a short-term answer to get them back to winning ways.

Ousmane Diomande to Real Madrid

According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid are interested in signing Ivory Coast international Ousmane Diomande from Sporting in this January window.

Such a deal will not come cheap, with reports that Sporting will hold out for the player’s full £67 million exit clause if a firm approach for his services is made.

The Champions League holders have suffered dearly in the centre back position in recent times. David Alaba and Eder Militao have both had serious knee injuries, whilst captain Nacho Fernandez departed the club in the summer. With Los Blancoss desperately needing to strengthen in this area of the pitch, young star Diomande could certainly be an option in this window.
