Five Nigerian Stars Who Could Be On the Move This Summer

The 2025 summer transfer window is underway – and some of Nigeria’s biggest names are right in the thick of the gossip.

From Super Eagles forwards chasing UCL football to the players attracting EPL interest, there’s plenty of movement (and mayhem) expected over the coming weeks.

Here are five Nigerian players whose futures could be decided in the coming weeks…

Victor Osimhen

It’s already been a saga – and it’s not even mid-June yet.

Victor Osimhen has officially rejected a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, despite Napoli accepting a €75m offer and medicals already being lined up. He’s made it clear: he wants to stay in Europe.

After bagging 37 goals on loan at Galatasaray last season, the Nigerian striker reminded everyone just how lethal he can be. Galatasaray are keen to keep him, but a permanent deal may be out of reach. EPL sides have cooled their interest – for now – while reports suggest a top Serie A club is lurking in the background.

Wherever he lands, Osimhen remains one of the most in-demand forwards in world football.

Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman is hot property this summer.

Barcelona are the latest club linked, with new boss Hansi Flick reportedly keen and Atalanta open to selling for around €40m. Arsenal are also said to be in talks with the winger’s representatives, and Juventus remain interested.

With 20 goals and 7 assists in 2024/25, Lookman has become one of Europe’s most consistent wide forwards. The only question now is whether he stays in Serie A, returns to the Premier League, or takes the leap to La Liga.

Bright Osayi-Samuel

Osayi-Samuel is out of contract at the end of the month – and that’s put a lot of clubs on alert.

Crystal Palace are leading the race to bring the versatile right-back back to England offering a four-year deal. Besiktas have also made a big offer to keep him in Turkey, while José Mourinho wants him to stay at Fenerbahçe.

Umar Sadiq

It looked like Umar Sadiq’s top-flight career had hit a wall after a brutal ACL injury – but his loan spell at Valencia has sparked a dramatic turnaround.

The 28-year-old striker scored six goals in 17 games to help lift Valencia clear of relegation, and his future is now the subject of a tug-of-war. Valencia don’t want to pay the €9.5m buy option to make the deal permanent, but a Qatari club is reportedly ready to pay over €30m to bring Sadiq in.

That means Valencia could buy him and sell him immediately for a huge profit – or Sociedad could cash in directly. Either way, expect movement.

Samuel Chukwueze

It just hasn’t clicked for Chukwueze at Milan. He managed only three league goals in 2024/25, and played just 180 minutes in the second half of the season.

Fulham came close to signing him in January and remain interested, while Villarreal, the club where he shone brightest, could offer him a route back to Spain. AC Milan are willing to sell, and a fee of around €12–15m is being floated.

Still only 25, Chukwueze has the talent to reignite his career – he just needs the right system and the right stage.
