Four Deals To Look Out For Ahead Of Transfer Deadline Day

Clubs are frantically trying to sign players with just a week remaining in this January transfer window.

Here, we pick out for potential deals to look out for before the window slams shut next Monday.

Victor Boniface – Al Nassr

Al Nassr have opened talks to sign Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen.

This was revealed by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, via his X account on Monday.

According to Romano, the Saudi Arabia Pro League side want Boniface to replace Anderson Talisca, who is on his way to Istanbul to sign for Fenerbahçe.

Boniface only signed a contract extension with the Bundesliga champions until 2026 last week.

The deal makes the Super Eagles forward one of the top earners at Leverkusen.

Despite renewing his contract, the 24-year-olf is however not considered unsellable by the Bundesliga champions.

Leverkusen will demand at least €50m from interested suitors.

Patrick Dorgu – Man United

As the transfer deadline approaches, Manchester United seem determined to sign Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, putting in a flurry of bids for the Denmark international in order to complete the deal.

According to Sky Italia, the interest began last week when representatives of the Premier League side travelled to Milan to negotiate.

Going on to make 32 appearances last term, he weighed in with two goals and has begun the 2024/25 campaign in even better form.

Starting all but one of Lecce’s 22 games so far this term, Dorgu has contributed three goals and one assist, figures from WhoScored.com showing that he creates 0.9 scoring opportunities per 90 minutes.

Lecce sit just one point above the drop zone, but they have held Juventus to a 1-1 draw while Dorgu has also made four international appearances for Denmark.

He scored his first international goal against Switzerland in September and plays alongside United pair Rasmus Højlund and Christian Eriksen.

Neymar Jr Santos

Fabrizio Romano reports that Santos have reached a verbal agreement to sign Neymar. The 32-year-old has played just seven games for Al-Hilal – scoring one and creating three – since his €90m move from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2013.

The Brazilian has missed 65 games for the Saudi club owing to various injuries, the main one being a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee.

But now after a difficult and testing spell in Saudi Arabia, Neymar is set to return to Santos, where he played for their youth team before making his entrance into professional football.

Christopher Nkunku Man Utd

Manchester United reportedly are ‘discussing internally’ a loan move for Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, who Bayern Munich are targeting.

Chelsea paid Nkunku’s £51million release clause to sign him from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the 2023 summer transfer window.

A pre-season injury meant the Frenchman did not make his Blues debut until December 2023 and he has only started five Premier League games since.

With Nkunku struggling for game time in the Premier League, there have been rumours of a potential return to Germany, with Bayern also reportedly keen.
