Uganda and Nigeria will meet at the Complexe Sportif de Fes for their final match in Group C of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with both teams still battling to ensure their top-two finish in the standings.
Although Nigeria’s top two place is secure, at least a draw would ensure their first-placed finish, while Uganda must win and hope Tanzania beat Tunisia in the other remaining fixture, and also better Tanzania’s eventual goal difference in that outcome.

Uganda vs Nigeria
Tuesday 30th December, 17:00
Complexe Sportif de Fes
Uganda entered into Group C as one of the underdogs to secure a top-two finish, with Nigeria and Tunisia certainly the top favourites to secure their progression from the group into the knockout rounds.
That has certainly been demonstrated in the first two matches of the group, with Uganda losing 3-1 to Tunisia before drawing 1-1 with Tanzania on matchday two, leaving them with just one point after two matchdays.
Now with one game remaining, Uganda are required to pick up all three points against the group’s powerhouses, Nigeria, while also hoping that Tanzania pick up all three points against Tunisia. At the same time, Uganda would also have to better Tanzania’s goal difference if they were to finish above them and secure a second-placed finish.
However, facing a Nigeria side that have won each of their opening two games will be no easy task, especially given Uganda’s clear defensive struggles – conceding four goals in two games – combined with Nigeria’s attacking strength – scoring five in two games.
The Super Eagles head into this match simply needing to avoid defeat if they are to ensure their first-placed finish and march into the knockout rounds, thanks to winning each of their opening two games in Group C.
Nigeria defeated Tanzania 2-1 on matchday one, followed by a 3-2 victory over Tunisia on matchday two, with Ademola Lookman proving to be a standout star so far this tournament – already registering four goal involvements.
Given their supreme attacking quality, as well as their winning start to the group, the Super Eagles are understandably the favourites to extend their winning run and claim all three points, ensuring their qualification in flawless fashion.
Team News
Uganda’s performance against Tanzania on matchday two was much improved compared to their opening outing, with Paul Put’s side unfortunate not to take all three points after a controlled and largely dominant performance.
As a result of that showing, the manager could look to name an unchanged side as his side search for an unlikely victory over Nigeria on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Nigeria only made limited changes between their first and second matchdays, with Frank Onyeka and Bruno Onyemaechi coming into the team ahead of Zaidu Sanusi and Samuel Chukwueze.
However, with Nigeria expected to dominate the clash with Uganda, Eric Chelle could revert those changes in an attempt to increase the Super Eagles’ attacking threat, meaning the same team that started on matchday one could feature here.

Bet9ja Tips
Nigeria are undoubtedly the favourites heading into this final matchday, especially thanks to the attacking brilliance at their disposal and Uganda’s clear defensive vulnerabilities in their opening two games. You can get odds of Nigeria to win of 2.25 with Bet9ja.
Lookman has been in stunning form at the beginning of AFCON, scoring two and assisting two in just two appearances, and the forward will be looking to maintain his scoring streak when they take on Uganda. Given Lookman’s form and Uganda’s defensive frailties, we are backing the forward to score again here, and you can get odds of 4.25 for Lookman to score with Bet9ja.
