Top leagues are resuming back from winter break as the AFCON still continues in Morocco.

The selections for the weekend are below:

Bayer Leverkusen vs Stuttgart

Bayer Leverkusen carried some momentum into the winter break, beating fellow top-four hopefuls RB Leipzig 3-1 on the road in their last game before the break.

The home side have won four of their last five league games at the BayArena ahead of the visit of Stuttgart.

Stuttgart outshot an in-form Hoffenheim side 10-4 in their last match before the winter break, but were unable to secure all three points, playing out a goalless draw on home soil.

PREDICTION: Bayer Leverkusen to win either halves at 1.46

Freiburg vs Harmburg

Derry Scherhant’s 78th-minute goal was the decisive one in game week 15 as Freiburg won 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at the Volkswagen Arena.

Newly-promoted Hamburg held Eintracht Frankfurt to a point before the winter break as Albert Sambi Lokonga’s early opener was cancelled out by Hugo Larsson in a 1-1 draw.

Hamburg remain winless away from home this season & this is tough for them.

PREDICTION: Freiburg to win either halves at 1.42

Girona vs Osasuna

After a disappointing start to the season, Girona have shown signs of turning things around in the last few weeks with 2 wins in their last 3 matches.

Osasuna are enjoying a strong campaign, but their away form has seriously let them down.

The last time these two sides met, Osasuna secured a 2-1 victory at home. In the reverse fixture, Girona comfortably won 4-0 on their own turf, and they are unbeaten in the last five meetings at home.

PREDICTION: Girona to score at 1.26

Villarreal vs Alavez

Villarreal have been in incredible form in their last 6 games that only Barcelona has picked more points than them in this period. Their only loss in that run came against Barcelona, and they currently sit 11 points behind with two games in hand.

Deportivo Alaves have struggled on the road of late, losing five games on the bounce away from home. They’ve won just once away from home all season, scoring just three times.

PREDICTION: Villarreal to win at 1.50

Twente vs PEC

FC Twente return to De Grolsch Veste looking to turn territorial dominance into three points as they host a vulnerable yet awkward PEC Zwolle side on matchday 18 of the Eredivisie.

Zwolle, meanwhile, travel to Enschede in a far more precarious position. Henry van der Vegt’s side are 14th with 19 points and have struggled badly on the road, failing to win any of their last eight away league fixtures.

The tactical shape of the contest feels predictable but decisive.

PREDICTION: Twente to win at 1.30

Union Berlin vs Mainz 04

Andras Schäfer popped up with an injury-time winner against a 10-man FC Köln side before the winter break kicked in as Union Berlin snatched a narrow 1-0 away win.

Mainz were unable to snap their winless streak before the winter break, playing out a goalless draw at home against fellow strugglers St. Pauli. Still, the visitors have improved under new boss Urs Fischer, who will look to end an 11-match winless run at Stadion an der Alten Försterei on Saturday.

PREDICTION: Union Berlin to win either halves at 1.61

Valencia vs Elche

Valencia have failed to win in their previous five games, but they have looked more comfortable at home this season.

Elche have been one of the best sides in La Liga at home this season, but on the road, they’ve struggled. They are still searching for their first win away from home, losing five games on the bounce.

PREDICTION: Valencia to score at 1.24

FC Groningen vs NAC Breda

FC Groningen return to the Euroborg in a position few would have confidently predicted before the season began. Sitting fifth with 27 points from 17 matches.

For NAC Breda, the picture is far bleaker. Rooted to the foot of the table with just 13 points.

Head-to-head history slightly favours Groningen, who are unbeaten in seven of their last eight league meetings with NAC, including a 2–1 away win earlier this season.

PREDICTION: FC Groningen to win either halves at 1.36
