The Premier League returned with a bang last weekend. There was no shortage of goals, with 28 scored in total, or drama too. Among the highlights were newly promoted Fulham holding Liverpool to a draw, Tottenham putting four past Southampton, Erling Haaland scoring twice on his debut and Brighton upsetting Man Utd at Old Trafford.
We go again this weekend, with Chelsea vs Tottenham the outstanding match on Sunday. Here’s an in-depth look at the key matches if you need some tips and team news and also the best odds that we’re offering at Bet9ja for matchday two of the Premier League:
Arsenal vs Leicester, Saturday 13th August 3pm:
It was an impressive start by Arsenal last Friday in their 2-0 win at Crystal Palace. William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko all had fine debuts and a vibrant display from the Gunners throughout gives great promise for their top four chances this season.
For Leicester, it’s a period of uncertainty. Kasper Schemeichel has already departed, while Wesley Forfana and James Maddison are heavily rumoured to be leaving with the Foxes in need of raising funds. Brendan Rodgers will be disappointed with how his side let a 2-0 lead slip during their 2-2 draw to Brentford last Sunday, even if they showed signs of promise.
Arsenal are strong favourites for this one and you can see why given Leicester have on won just once at the home of Arsenal since 1973. We’ve priced the Gunners at 1.56 and those who like a Correct Score bet, a 2-0 win for Arsenal at 8.20 catches the eye.
Bet9ja odds (at time of writing): Arsenal win: 1.56, Draw: 4.35, Leicester win: 5.80

Man City vs Bournemouth, Saturday 13th August 3pm:
Last Sunday, Man City gave a glimpse of what we can expect from them this season. They were utterly dominant against a West Ham team fresh off finishing seventh last season. Pep Guardiola’s men had 75% possession in their 2-0 win, with Erling Haaland scoring twice on his Premier League debut and showing how much of a threat he’s going to be this season.
Goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore helped Bournemouth record an impressive 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the Cherries’ return to the top flight. You’d expect Scott Parker to still be pushing for new signings this month, but on last week’s showing, Bournemouth will be confident they have what it takes to survive this season.
On paper, this fixture couldn’t be more one-sided. Man City have won all 10 Premier League meetings against Bournemouth, scoring 30 goals in the process. The fact Bournemouth are 36s to win on Saturday demonstrates the task at hand. Given a high scoring City win is expected, the goals market might be a good one to explore at Bet9ja, with Total Goals (Exact), Multi Goal and Over/Under the highlights.
Bet9ja odds: Man City win: 1.08, Draw: 11.50, Bournemouth win: 36.00

Brentford vs Man Utd, Saturday 13th August 5:30pm:
The new era under Erik ten Hag got off to the worst possible start for Man Utd. The Red Devils were left stunned after a 2-1 home to defeat to Brighton, with many of the same problems from last season remaining. There was no cohesion from the home side and not even Cristiano Ronaldo could make an impact. It’s no doubt going to take time and it will be interesting to see what difference a week makes for ten Hag’s men.
Brentford showed great fighting spirit to earn a draw at Leicester in matchday one. Debutant Aaron Hickey performed well and Ivan Toney got off the mark as he looks to improve on his 12 goals from last season. Christian Eriksen is obviously a big loss and will be on display in a Man Utd shirt on his return to the Brentford Community Stadium.
This is a tough one to predict due to the fact Brentford were good at home last season and right now it’s hard to know which Man Utd team will show up. We’ve got a draw at 3.55 and that could well be the way to go for this one.
Bet9ja odds: Brentford win: 3.75, Draw: 3.55, Man Utd win: 2.02

Chelsea vs Tottenham, Sunday 14th August 4:30pm:
It’s only the second weekend of the season but already the match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday will have plenty riding on it between these two rivals.
Chelsea got an important 1-0 win at Everton last week. It was by no means a classic but Thomas Tuchel’s side managed to get the job done, with new signing Kalidou Koulibaly excelling with a man-of-the-match performance. Raheem Sterling also showed glimpses of his class on his Chelsea debut and the initial signs are good for the Blues, who will be looking at that third spot this season.
So too will Tottenham. After signing six new players, it was the familiar faces of last season who got the job done in their 4-1 win against Southampton. Dejan Kulusevski was the outstanding player with a goal and an assist in what was the perfect start for Antonio Conte’s men. They are very much now a team under their manager’s mould, with high expectations of another top four finish
In terms of head-to-head, the signs are with Chelsea. The Blues have won the past five meetings, and aside from a win in 2018, Spurs have only ever won once at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League. There’s usually goals in this fixture which is why Over 2.5 goals is odds of 1.92, and if you’re going to go with the 1X2 market, a Chelsea win would be slightly in favour.
Bet9ja odds: Chelsea win: 2.28, Draw: 3.40, Tottenham win: 3.20
