This Wednesday is packed with English Premier League action as six games are set to take place, and as usual with the Premier League, they are sure to provide drama. Some of the games hold huge importance even at this early stage of the season, as they could be vital points in the battles at either side of the table come the end of the season.
The standout game sees Manchester United host Chelsea at Old Trafford in a game between two sides who have had difficult starts to their season so far. With this and many others taking place, we’ve picked out our top tips and booking codes for Wednesday’s games.
Liverpool to win and over 3.5 goals, 1.94
Sheffield United vs Liverpool
Sheffield United currently sit bottom of the Premier League table and are also the worst-performing side in both goals scored and goals conceded this season. 39 goals conceded in just 14 games shows off their defensive frailties, leading to manager Paul Heckingbottom being sacked in the past few days.
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, Liverpool are second in the table and share the second-best goal difference in the league with two other sides. Having scored four goals in both their last games and with Sheffield United’s awful defensive record, we firmly expect Liverpool to win this one and score over 3.5 goals.
Chelsea to win, 2.45
Manchester United vs Chelsea
Manchester United and Chelsea have both gone through tough starts to their seasons with neither side finding themselves in the position they would have wanted to be in before the start of the season. Manchester United currently sit in seventh place, while Chelsea sit in 10th.
Despite United sitting higher in the table, their performances have been far from desirable in recent weeks whereas Chelsea have vastly improved in the last weeks. While we do expect this to be a hard-fought encounter, Chelsea’s superior form coming into this game makes us believe that they will end up victorious.
Manchester City to win, 1.74
Aston Villa vs Manchester City
Aston Villa have been the surprise package of the year so far, with them impressively sitting in fourth position. While many expected that Unai Emery’s team would be in the fight for European places this season, not many would have expected them to be producing performances to the standard that they have shown this season. They currently boast the second-best attacking record in the league with 33 goals scored in 14 games, three behind their upcoming opponents Manchester City with 36.
While Aston Villa have been fantastic this season, Pep Guardiola has made his Manchester City virtually impossible to bet against winning. Following on from their 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur where they were denied a chance in the dying moments of the game after referee Simon Hooper called back an advantage despite Jack Grealish being through on goal, Manchester City will be out with a vengeance in this one and we believe they will end up taking all the points.
Fulham to win, 2.06
Fulham v Nottingham Forest
Fulham and Nottingham Forest both sit in the pack of teams that have gathered just above the relegation zone, with Fulham in 14th with 15 points and Forest in 15th with 13 points. Fulham are coming into this one as the favourites thanks to their greater form in recent weeks, with them having four wins and a draw in their last 10 compared to Forest’s one win and four draws.
With Forest also going through three back-to-back defeats in their most recent games, their confidence will be extremely low. This all gives us reason to believe that Fulham will come out with the three points at the end of this game.
