The Christmas period is always busy in the English Premier League and we take look at the ‘Big 6’s’ fixtures, ranking them from easiest to hardest.
Some of the traditional top six sides currently sit below where they would have expected to be at this stage of the season, but with a busy Christmas period there will undoubtedly be a reshuffle of the pack.
Manchester City
- Crystal Palace (H) Saturday 16 December, 16:00
- Everton (A) Wednesday 27 December, 21:15
- Sheffield United (H) Saturday 30 December, 16:00
While others have four fixtures, Manchester City have just three league games, with two of these fixtures coming against sides in the bottom three and the third being against Palace, therefore leaving them with the easiest run over the Christmas stage.
Chelsea
- Sheffield United (H) Saturday 16 December, 16:00
- Wolves (A) Sunday 24 December, 14:00
- Crystal Palace (H) Wednesday 27 December, 20:30
- Luton Town (A) Friday 30 December, 13:30
Next up in our list in Chelsea, whose hardest fixture over this period is Wolves away, and they also face Sheffield United and Luton who sit in the bottom four of the table.
Tottenham Hotspur
- Nottingham Forest (A) Friday 15 December, 21:00
- Everton (H) Saturday 23 December, 16:00
- Brighton (A) Thursday 28 December, 20:30
- Bournemouth (H) Sunday 31 December,15:00
Spurs are also a side that have a relatively easy run, but Brighton away from home in the mix makes it slightly more difficult than both Chelsea and Manchester City’s games.
Arsenal
- Brighton (H) Sunday 17 December, 15:00
- Liverpool (A) Saturday 23 December, 18:30
- West Ham (H) Thursday 28 December, 21:15
- Fulham (A) Sunday 31 December, 15:00
Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League, but their fixtures over the Christmas period are certainly not easy as they match up against three sides who all sit in the top half of the table.
Manchester United
- Liverpool (A) Sunday 17 December, 17:30
- West Ham (A) Saturday 23 December, 13:30
- Aston Villa (H) Tuesday 26 December 21:00
- Nottingham Forest (A) Friday 30 December, 18:30
United are fifth in our list as they do not have an easy run at all; they face both Liverpool and Villa who currently sit in the top four and also West Ham who sit in the top half of the table.
Liverpool
- Man United (H) Sunday 17 December, 17:30
- Arsenal (H) Saturday 23 December, 18:30
- Burnley (A) Tuesday 26 December, 18:30
- Newcastle (H) Monday 1 January, 21:00
Liverpool’s fixtures are seemingly the hardest over this period of the season, as they play top of the table Arsenal, and both Man United and Newcastle who also sit in the top seven of the table.
