Ranking The EPL Big 8’s January Transfer Business

The January transfer window has come to a close and we take a look at the EPL big eight’s transfer business and ranked them from who had the best window to the worst.

There was not a vast amount of action from Premier League clubs in the January transfer window, after the majority of sides saw it as more of an opportunity to get players out the door rather than bring new players in.

1- Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs had the best transfer window out of the big eight clubs in the Premier League, after they signed highly rated Romanian defender Radu Dragusin and loaned in Timo Werner.

2- Aston Villa

Aston Villa are the next club on our list after they signed three players, and saw the opportunity in January to loan out seven current players to get regular game time.

3- Newcastle United

Newcastle opted to sell four players on permanent deals, which might would have helped them on the FFP front, and also bought one player (Alfie Harrison).

4- Manchester City

Manchester City had a mediocre transfer window with little action, but they did manage to bring in 18-year-old Claudio Echeverri, who could be a good long-term option.

5- Liverpool

Liverpool had a busy transfer window in terms of getting players out the door after they loaned out 10 players, but failed to bring in any new players.

6- Manchester United

Manchester United also saw this transfer window as an opportunity to send players out on loan after eight players left the club on short term deals, and bought in zero players in the door.

7- Chelsea

Chelsea had a quiet transfer window compared to their normal standards, as they opted not to bring in any players but saw five players leave the club on loan.

8- Arsenal

Arsenal sit bottom of our list after they partook in minimal business, loaning out three players which might have left the faithful frustrated as new signings certainly would have kicked them on in the remainder of the season.
