Samuel Chukwueze is one of the most dangerous attacking weapons in the Nigerian national team setup, with the winger boasting a brilliant blend of explosive pace, sharp dribbling and creative abilities.
As Nigeria prepare for another major international cycle, with the Africa Cup of Nations just around the corner, the winger’s abilities and experience of competing at the highest level place him firmly among the nation’s most important players.

Nigeria Career
Chukwueze made his senior national team debut at just 19-years-old in November 2018, starting in an international friendly against Uganda, a game which eventually ended in a 0-0 draw.
The winger has become a regular feature in Nigeria squads ever since, including appearing in his first Africa Cup of Nations for the Super Eagles back in 2019, a tournament which saw Chukwueze score his first Nigeria goal against South Africa in the quarter-finals.
Now seven years into his Nigeria career, Chukwueze has made a total of 51 appearances for the Super Eagles, scoring seven goals in that time.
Club Career
Chukwueze joined Villarreal’s academy setup in 2017 from local side Diamond Football Academy, and the tricky winger went on to make his first-team debut for the Spanish side in a 2-2 draw with Rangers in the Europa League in September 2018.
Chukwueze showed fantastic potential during his time in Spain, ranking among the very best talents in world football at the time, eventually earning him the move to AC Milan in the summer of 2023.
The forward struggled to adapt to life in Italy, failing to ever truly cement himself as a regular starter for AC Milan, eventually leaving the club on loan at the start of the 2025/26 season to join English Premier League side Fulham, with the Cottagers having an option to buy at the end of the campaign.
While a calf injury briefly disrupted his start to life at Craven Cottage, the winger burst into life in London in the last few weeks – registering two goals and two assists in his last four Premier League matches.
After coming off the bench to assist the winning goal in the Cottagers 1-0 victory over Sunderland, he earned his first start for Fulham in their next outing against Spurs – again notching an assist in a win. This was followed up by a stunning brace against Man City as Craven Cottage witnessed one of the most dramatic matches of the season, as City survived a furious Fulham comeback to win 5–4.

Scouting Report
Chukwueze is a classic modern winger – a left-footed player who prefers to play on the right wing, giving him the option to go down the line or cut inside onto his stronger foot and either lay the ball off or take a shot on goal.
One difference is that the modern winger is often more goal-focused, such as Mohamed Salah, but Chukwueze’s game revolves more around his creative abilities, highlighted by the winger already recording seven key passes in just 104 English Premier League minutes, while he has taken only four shots in that time in comparison.
Arguably the winger’s greatest strength is his dribbling ability, with Chukwueze’s agility and technical control of the ball allowing him to escape from tight spaces and quickly change angles, making it hard for defenders to keep him under control.
Alongside his dribbling qualities, Chukwueze’s tremendous pace means he is able to burst past defenders with ease, a brilliant quality to possess for teams who often look to capitalise on the counter attack or to use as an outlet on the wing.
Finally, despite not having the greatest goalscoring record throughout his career, Chukwueze actually possesses a great ability to strike the ball with his left foot, able to generate plenty of power into his strikes.
Given the nature of his playing style meaning the winger is often found cutting inside from the right wing, his strikes are usually curling efforts in an attempt to find the top left corner, and Chukwueze has certainly shown throughout his career that he is capable of scoring stunners.
