With many of Europe’s top clubs in the market for a new-centre forward, there is likely to be a lot of movement in the transfer market this summer.
One man touted with a big move across the continent is Napoli’s Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen, who won the golden boot in Serie A as the club from Naples ended a 33-year wait for a league title. After hitting 31 goals in all competitions in the 2022/23 season at 24-years-old, Osimhen is already a top-class operator and has his prime ahead of him, making him an ideal target for clubs looking to add an lethal all-round attacker to their squad.

Chelsea

After a disastrous league campaign in 2022/23, Chelsea are in desperate need of inspiration at the top of the pitch. New owner Todd Boehly has spent nearly £600m in an attempt to rebuild Chelsea’s squad, with reinforcements in midfield and on the wings including Argentina’s FIFA World Cup star Enzo Fernandez and Ukrainian youngster Mykhailo Mudryk.
Despite this heavy spending Chelsea found goals extremely hard to come by last season, managing just 38 in the English Premier League.
This issue could be attributed to many different factors, one being the lack of a proper number nine. Osimhen has cited Didier Drogba as one of his idols growing up, and would provide the goalscoring instinct, hold-up play and pace to cause defences across the country serious problems.
Manchester United

Erik ten Hag oversaw some serious improvements for Manchester United last season, winning the Carabao Cup and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League in his first year in charge. Despite Marcus Rashford and hitting 30 goals in all competitions, United were severely lacking in goals from other parts of their attack. Wout Weghorst failed to register a league goal, Anthony Martial spent a lot of the season injured, and big-money wing pairing Jadon Sancho and Antony only managed 10 league goals between them.
Osimhen would be an excellent option for the Red Devils – his athleticism and ability to occupy defenders would free up space for United’s creative players, and his reliable finishing would likely see him capitalise on the chances created by the likes of Bruno Fernandes.
Paris Saint Germain

After another season of European disappointment, PSG are facing a summer of change with Lionel Messi leaving to Inter Miami, Kylian Mbappé potentially on his way out of Paris, and Neymar often unfit. Victor Osimhen would be an excellent player to lead a new era for the French giants.
PSG’s previous project of putting as many big-name worldwide superstars into one team seems to have failed, so it would make sense to build a fresh team around a player like Osimhen, who was the star man for a young Napoli side who shocked everyone on their way to Serie A glory.
