Top 5 Goals From The 2024/25 Opening Day Of Serie A, Ligue 1 & EPL

The 2024/25 campaign kicked off last weekend for most of Europe’s major leagues and we take a look at some of the best goals scored from the opening game-week.

Their opening weekend certainly did not disappoint in terms of supplying top quality moments and there were some great goals scored, from individual moments of brilliance to expertly executed team goals.

Kaoru Mitoma 

Everton 0-3 Brighton 

Premier League 

Brighton & Hove Albion picked up an impressive three points in the English Premier League under new manager Fabian Hurzeler, and the opening goal from Mitoma was a superb one. The nippy winger picked up the ball on the edge of his own box and then after a breathtaking counter-attack, he finished off the move and passed the ball into an empty net.

Cristiano Biraghi

Parma 1-1 Fiorentina 

Serie A

Fiorentina found themselves a goal down against Parma on Saturday, but a moment of magic from Biraghi meant that the points were shared. The visitors had a free-kick on the edge of the box in the 75th minute, and Biraghi curled an effort into the top-left corner which left the keeper with no chance.

Mateo Kovacic 

Chelsea 0-2 Manchester City

Premier League

Normal service resumed for Manchester City at the weekend when they beat Chelsea 2-0 away from home, and Kovacic scored an excellent goal against his former side. The Croatian midfielder pounced on a Chelsea mistake and then powered forward with the ball, before he expertly struck the ball past Robert Sanchez from outside the box.

Mahdi Camara

Brest 1-5 Marseille 

Ligue 1

Brest got off to a nightmare start in the 2024/25 campaign at the weekend, when they lost 5-1 at home against Marseille.

However, Mahdi Camara scored a belter for his side when he received the ball on the edge of the box and riffled an effort off the bar into the back of the net.

Bradley Barcola

Le Havre 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain

Ligue 1

Bradley Barcola came off the bench for PSG on Friday night and put the nail in the coffin for Le Havre, after he scored his sides third goal of the evening. The young winger showed excellent skill to beat his man on the left, then cut inside to make an angle and whipped the ball into the far corner from outside the penalty area past the goalkeeper.
