Top 5 Talking Points From EPL Matchday 10

This weekend certainly did not disappoint in the English Premier League in terms of producing some top quality moments, and we picked five of the main things we learned from the action.

From shock results to brilliant individual performances, the top flight in England proved again this weekend that there will always be plenty of talking points and there constantly seems to be no lack of drama at the end of each matchday.

Chelsea in trouble

Chelsea fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home against a struggling Brentford side at the weekend, which now means that they have lost more than they have won in the Premier League this season proving that they are undoubtedly in trouble with the summer signings failing to settle in.

Nketiah fighting for his spot

Eddie Nketiah has been out of favour when Gabriel Jesus has been fit this season, but with the Brazilian being ruled out due to injury; the English forward was given the nod and proved his worth after he scored an impressive hat-trick to help his side beat Sheffield United 5-0. He has surely made himself undroppable for at least the next few matches.

Worrying signs for ten Hag

Erik ten Hag’s side definitely went into the Manchester derby as underdogs at the weekend, but the faithful will be extremely disappointed with how their side performed in the 3-0 defeat against their rivals, and the loss now means that they have lost five of their opening 10 fixtures in the league. With uncertainty on and off the pitch, the writing may well be on the wall for ten Hag.

Europe taking its toll on Brighton?

Brighton find themselves in Europe this campaign for the first time in the club’s history, and it is looking like it is starting to take its toll as they drew against Fulham at the weekend with a side named by Roberto De Zerbi that saw six changes made from their European clash with Ajax just four days prior. It meant they dropped points in a game you’d have expected them to take the three points.

Another game without a win for the Hammers

West Ham had a positive start to the 2023/24 season, but they now find themselves four games without a win in all competitions, and the defeat at home against Everton will be a worrying one for David Moyes as he would have been expecting  to beat them with how the Toffees have started the campaign.
