Top 5 EPL Goals Of Matchday 2

The second weekend of English Premier League was full of goals once again, with the big matches delivering as expected and shock results across the country popping up once again.

Manchester City secured an important win over Eddie Howe’s dangerous Newcastle side, and Brighton were once again ruthless as they put four goals past Wolverhampton Wanderers.

We’ve picked out the five best goals of the weekend from some of the best players in the league.

Kaoru Mitoma vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Japanese superstar Kaoru Mitoma showed once again why so many people are talking about him with a sensational goal against Wolves.

Picking the ball up on the left wing, Mitoma raced inside, beating three helpless Wolves defenders before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to put The Seagulls 1-0 up.

Michail Antonio vs Chelsea

West Ham United upset Chelsea 3–1 at the London Stadium, with Michail Antonio scoring the pick of the goals to put The Hammers 2-1 up after Enzo Fernandez’s missed penalty.

New signing James Ward-Prowse sent a long pass forward to Antonio, who bullied Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill out of the way before hammering a low shot past Robert Sanchez from the edge of the box.

Gustavo Hamer vs Nottingham Forest

Gustavo Hamer marked his EPL debut for Sheffield United with a sensational goal to equalise for The Blades after making the move from Coventry City earlier this summer.

Picking the ball up on the edge of the box after a corner was cleared, the Dutch-Brazilian curled an inch-perfect shot into the top corner past Forest ‘keeper Matt Turner, leaving the American with no chance.

Luis Diaz vs Bournemouth

After missing a large part of last season injured, Liverpool fans will be keen to see more of Luis Diaz this year – especially after his brilliant goal against Bournemouth.

Diogo Jota found Diaz inside the box with his back to goal, before the Colombian showed quick thinking and great athleticism to flick the ball up and acrobatically volley the ball into The Cherries’ net to equalise at Anfield

Julian Alvarez vs Newcastle United

With Kevin De Bruyne out injured and Erling Haaland unable to get on the scoresheet against Newcastle, young Argentinian Julian Alvarez stepped up when Pep Guardiola needed him.

After a great pass from Mateo Kovacic, Phil Foden found space inside the box before feeding the ball to Alvarez, who sent a dipping shot past Nick Pope and into the far corner of the Newcastle Net to give Manchester City the three points.
